Ocena przestrzennego rozmieszczenia parków narodowych i obszarów chronionego krajobrazu w państwach Europy Środkowej na tle prowincji fizycznogeograf…

2020

Radiation protection of patients undergoing high-dose-rate brachytherapy: peripheral dose estimation, review of radiation risks and implant shielding…

2015

Targeted Drug Delivery in Plants: Enzyme‐Responsive Lignin Nanocarriers for the Curative Treatment of the Worldwide Grapevine Trunk Disease Esca

2019

Abstract Nanocarrier (NC)‐mediated drug delivery is widely researched in medicine but to date has not been used in agriculture. The first curative NC‐based treatment of the worldwide occurring grapevine trunk disease Esca, with more than 2 billion infected plants causing a loss yearly of $1.5 billion, is presented. To date, only repetitive spraying of fungicides is used to reduce chances of infection. This long‐term treatment against Esca uses minimal amounts of fungicide encapsulated in biobased and biodegradable lignin NCs. A single trunk injection of <10 mg fungicide results in curing of an infected plant. Only upon Esca infection, ligninolytic enzymes, secreted by the Esca‐associated fu…

Drug Delivery in Plants: Targeted Drug Delivery in Plants: Enzyme-Responsive Lignin Nanocarriers for the Curative Treatment of the Worldwide Grapevin…

2019

In article number 1802315, Jochen Fischer, Frederik R. Wurm, and co‐workers report the first nanocarrier‐mediated drug delivery in plants. Enzyme‐degradable lignin nanocarriers are injected into the trunks of grapevine plants. They release a fungicide selectively inside of the plants and are able to cure the worldwide fungal plant disease Esca for the first time. This strategy will reduce the extensive spraying of pesticides in agriculture. Image credit: Katharina Maisenbacher.

Wetland Restoration with Hydrophytes: A Review

2021

Restoration cases with hydrophytes (those which develop all their vital functions inside the water or very close to the water surface, e.g., flowering) are less abundant compared to those using emergent plants. Here, I synthesize the latest knowledge in wetland restoration based on revegetation with hydrophytes and stress common challenges and potential solutions. The review mainly focusses on natural wetlands but also includes information about naturalized constructed wetlands, which nowadays are being used not only to improve water quality but also to increase biodiversity. Available publications, peer-reviewed and any public domain, from the last 20 years, were reviewed. Several countrie…

Are Red Lists really useful for plant conservation? The New Red List of the Italian Flora in the perspective of national conservation policies

2013

- The New Red List of the Italian Flora includes all the Italian policy species and other species of known conservation concerns for a total of 400 taxa, 65% of which are threatened with extinction. Bacterial diseases of energy plants

2017

Przedstawiono wyniki badań bakteryjnych patogenów bioenergetycznych roślin drzewiastych (topoli, brzozy), prowadzących do znacznego zmniejszenia zbiorów lub zaginięcia. Opisano różne choroby bakteryjne i patogeny zaznaczonych roślin, objawy tych chorób, charakterystykê obrażeń, rozmieszczenie i szkodliwość patogenów. Przedstawiono charakterystykê głównych chorób bakteryjnych (rak bakteryjny i martwicę bakteryjną kory) oraz mniej niebezpiecznych (mokradła), zarazy bakteryjne, choroby korzeni i gruźlica). Czynnikiem sprawczym bakteryjnego raku jest bakteria Xanthomonas populi (syn. Aplanobacterium populi). Jako towarzysząca mikroflora czynników wywołujących raka przeważają bakterie z rodzaju …

An interface protection system with power line communication for distributed generators remote control

2014

The aim of this work is to present a narrow band power line communication (NB-PLC) interface protection system (IPS) for distributed generators (DGs); it has been developed according to the current standard CEI 0-21 and the requirements for smart grid applications. For such applications, the new IPSs have to implement new intelligent functions such as remote monitoring and control of DGs and Energy Storage Systems (ESSs) inverters, not only in terms of disconnection but also of voltage regulation and power modulation by the utility control. The main feature of the developed IPS is the ability to interact with both the grid and the DG's and ESS's inverters. In fact, it can communicate with t…

Hydrologiczne i hydrauliczne uwarunkowania budowy zbiornika wstępnego w cofce zbiornika Słup

2016

The study presents the research results of the water quality and flows of the Nysa Szalona river which supplies the Słup drinking water dam reservoir. The research was carried out in the years 2005-2008 with the purpose to determine the potential for construction of a pre-dam reservoir in the backwater of the existing Słup reservoir. Maintenance of good water quality in this reservoir is of high importance due to the purposes it serves. It balances the outflow from the Nysa Szalona River basin to ensure appropriate volume of water at the intake on the Kaczawa River situated in Przybków. The data collected during the studies demonstrated poor quality of water. The analysis of the Nysa Szalon…
