P4613Long-term impact of postnatal nutritional programming on cardiac sensitivity to ischemia-reperfusion injury in vivo and on cardio-protective pat…
2019
Abstract Introduction Nutritional disturbances during the postnatal period may be responsible for a predisposition, or “programming”, to increased cardio-metabolic risk and to a progressive alteration of left ventricular contractility in adulthood. This nutritional perinatal programming may also lead to an alteration of cellular pathways involved in cardiac protection, such as the specific RISK and SAFE pathways, highlighted during pre- and post-ischemic conditioning or those of sirtuins (SIRT), histone deacetylases involved in the regulation of essential biological process. Purpose Our aim was to evaluate in mice the impact of postnatal overfeeding (PNOF) on cardiac sensitivity to ischemia…

Lessons learnt from the COVID-19 pandemic: results of EAHP survey on the future crisis preparedness of hospital pharmacies
2021
Aim The present survey aimed to collect information on the lessons learnt from the COVID-19 pandemic by hospital pharmacists. It focused on the shortages of health goods and the experiences of hospitals during the first phase of the crisis. Methods A 17-question survey was conducted by EAHP, looking at the experiences of hospital pharmacists during the COVD-19 pandemic. The survey ran from 16 September to 23 December 2020. Statistical analysis included backward stepwise logistic regression (BSLR), Pearson’s χ2 test, t-test and one-way ANOVA, as appropriate; p≤0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results 1466 hospital pharmacists answered the survey fully. 58%, 63% and 69% of them …
PROCESSO CONSERVATIVO E SIGNIFICATIVITà UN APPROCCIO METODOLOGICO PER LA PROGETTAZIONE DEI SISTEMI DI PROTEZIONE NEI SITI ARCHEOLOGICI/CONSERVATION P…
2018
2017
This paper is focused on the outcomes of psychotic functioning and, in particular, on individual and contextual elements that could influence the level of adjustment of a patient with schizophrenia. The case of Beatrice, who was diagnosed with schizophrenia at the age of 23, is analyzed using the personal diary that she herself compiled over about fifty years, in which she documented the fundamental events of her life. In the story of B. certain protective factors were highlighted, which enabled B. to have a good quality of life: effective pharmacological therapy with no side-effects, awareness of the pathology, the capacity to build satisfying interpersonal relationships and her religious …

Medical masks and Respirators for the Protection of Healthcare Workers from SARS-CoV-2 and other viruses
2020
The use of medical masks and respirators as personal protective equipment is pivotal to reducing the level of biological hazard to which healthcare workers are exposed during the outbreak of highly diffusible pathogens, such as the recent novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. Unfortunately, during this pandemic, supplies are rapidly running out worldwide, with potential consequences for the rate of occupational infections. Also, knowledge about specific characteristics of respirators is of utmost importance to select the proper type according to the clinical setting. A wide variety of literature is available on the topic, but mostly based on Influenza viruses infection models. Clinical evidence on …
