A metaphor for the group analysis

The clinical practice and the theoretic elaboration are two activities that require a clear epistemological framework, a methodological severity and also a suitable integration with the mythopoeic aspects of human existence. With particular reference to these last, the article suggests some considerations useful for the comprehension of the group therapeutic experience, through the allegorical use of the features, and the historical and mythical vicissitude of the Mediterranean Sea. Sea that, thanks to its morphological climatic characteristics, as well as to its evocative faculties give us some starting points for thinking about the therapeutic work in the long term groups.

L‟articolo affronta i temi legati al lavoro psicoterapeutico con soggetti appartenenti a famiglie mafiose a partire da una ricerca condotta su un campione di psicoterapeuti delle tre regioni in cui l‟organizzazione criminale è storicamente più forte e radicata (Sicilia, Campania, Calabria). Dopo le stragi del ‟92, infatti, l‟intera organizzazione Cosa Nostra entra in crisi e con essa i suoi membri. Introduction A large body of literature has demonstrated that people affected by psychotic disorders show deficits in working memory, in Emotion Recognition (ER) and in data-gathering to reach a decision (Jumping To Conclusions – JTC). Aims To investigate a possible correlation between working memory, JTC and ER in FEP. Methods 41 patients and 89 healthy controls completed assessments of working memory using WAIS shortened version, JTC using the 60:40 Beads Task and ER using Degraded Facial Affect Recognition Task. Study of gender differences in VR response following cardiac surgery.

Cardiac and other invasive surgical procedures cause significant anxiety and stress to patients and their family members. In this study Virtual Reality (VR) was used as a method to reduce stress, anxiety and pain in patients undergoing surgical procedures. This study compared a cohort of patients in the interval prior to and successive to the surgery, differentiating the responses achieved by males and females and comparing the effectiveness. The results are encouraging: they demonstrate the efficacy of VR treatment and the safety of the method and detection of differences in the responses based on gender.
