Field conversations as a data source in qualitative social research
2020

Challenges in Marketing Communications During the COVID-19 Pandemic
2022
The purpose of this study is to explore how tourism and hospitality firms managed marketing communications (marcom) since the COVID-19 outbreak and to propose a conceptual framework on marcom challenges that the pandemic crisis has brought to the industry. In-depth interviews were conducted with tourism and hospitality managers in Croatia, a destination that registered remarkable tourism results in 2021. The proposed conceptual framework reflects the adaptation process and major changes in B2B and B2C communication since the COVID-19 outbreak on one hand and resulting strategic opportunities for marcom managers on the other, discussed in terms of practical implications. To the best of the a…

Medical treatment for inoperable malignant bowel obstruction: a qualitative systematic review.
2007
The use of symptomatic agents has greatly improved the medical treatment of advanced cancer patients with inoperable bowel obstruction. A systematic review of studies of the most popular drugs used in the medical management of inoperable malignant bowel obstruction was performed to assess the effectiveness of these treatments and provide some lines of evidence. Randomized trials that involved patients with a clinical diagnosis of intestinal obstruction due to advanced cancer treated with these drugs were reviewed. Five reports fulfilled inclusion criteria. Three studies compared octreotide (OC) and hyoscine butylbromide (HB), and two studies compared corticosteroids (CSs) and placebo. Globa…

Peer interaction and pioneering organizational form adoption : A tale of the first two for-profit stock exchanges
2021
Building on a historical case study on the first two stock exchanges to adopt the now globally dominant for-profit organizational form, the Stockholm Stock Exchange in 1993 and the Helsinki Stock Exchange in 1995, we argue that interaction among socially proximate peers contributes to pioneering organizational form adoption within an industry, particularly when such forms are introduced by established organizations. Peer interaction can induce a search for technically efficient organizational forms through the sharing of collective experiences, the establishment of collective assumptions, and a joint search for solutions. Together, these factors contribute to the legitimization of novel or…
Roll-with-Participation. Il caso di ProMondello a Palermo
2018
This contribution is based on an ongoing experience in Palermo: a participatory process (ProMondello) aimed at producing a master plan. The specificity of ProMondello stems from the fact that the promoters of the process are neither social communities nor local administrations, which so far have only arranged highly questionable and easily exploitable processes. ProMondello is organised by a private stakeholder, the Italo-Belgian Real Estate Company, which has been managing a beach concession for about a century. The case raises several questions: can we have true participation along with such obvious economic interests? What can ensure that citizens’ opinions are not instrumentally used? T…
