The spin-dependent structure function g1(x) of the deuteron from polarized deep-inelastic muon scattering

1997

We present a new measurement of the spin-dependent structure function $g_{1}^{\rm d}$ of the deuteron from deep inelastic scattering of 190 GeV polarized muons on polarized deuterons. The results are combined with our previous measurements of $g_{1}^{\rm d}$. A perturbative QCD evolution in next-to-leading order is used to compute $g_{1}^{\rm d}(x)$ at a constant $Q^{2}$. At $Q^{2} = 10$ GeV$^{2}$, we obtain a first moment $\Gamma_{1}^{\rm d} = \int_{0}^{1} g_{1}^{\rm d}{\rm d}x = 0.041 \pm 0.008$, a flavour-singlet axial charge of the nucleon $a_{0} = 0.30 \pm 0.08$, and an axial charge of the strange quark $a_{s} = -0.09 \pm 0.03$. Using our earlier determination of $\Gamma_{1}^{\rm p}$, …

Evidence for Pygmy and Giant Dipole Resonances inSn130andSn132

2005

The dipole strength distribution above the one-neutron separation energy was measured in the unstable $^{130}\mathrm{Sn}$ and the double-magic $^{132}\mathrm{Sn}$ isotopes. The results were deduced from Coulomb dissociation of secondary Sn beams with energies around $500\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{MeV}/\mathrm{\text{nucleon}}$, produced by in-flight fission of a primary $^{238}\mathrm{U}$ beam. In addition to the giant dipole resonance, a resonancelike structure (``pygmy resonance'') is observed at a lower excitation energy around 10 MeV exhausting a few percent of the isovector $E1$ energy-weighted sum rule. The results are discussed in the context of a predicted new dipole mode of excess neut…

Energy and radiative properties of the low-lying NaRb states

2001

D 1 P ‐B 1 P transition dipole moments, as well as nonadiabatic L-uncoupling matrix elements between the examined 1 P and four lowest 1 S 1 states for both 23 Na 85 Rb and 23 Na 87 Rb isotopomers. The relevant MPPT ab initio matrix elements and energy curves were converted by means of the approximate sum rule to radiative lifetimes and L-doubling constants ( q factors! for the particular rovibronic levels of the B 1 P and D 1 P states. The theoretical lifetimes agree well with their experimental counterparts for both B 1 P and D 1 P states. The q factor estimates obtained in the singlet-singlet approximation are in good agreement with the experimental ones for the D 1 P(1<v8<12;7<J8<50) lev…

Colle-Salvetti-type local density functional for the exchange-correlation energy in two dimensions

2010

We derive an approximate local density functional for the exchange-correlation energy to be used in density-functional calculations of two-dimensional systems. In the derivation we employ the Colle-Salvetti wave function within the scheme of Salvetti and Montagnani [Phys. Rev. A 63, 052109 (2001)] to satisfy the sum rule for the exchange-correlation hole. We apply the functional for the two-dimensional homogeneous electron gas as well as to a set of quantum dots and find a very good agreement with exact reference data.

Symmetries and Symmetry Groups in Quantum Physics

2013

When one talks about discrete or continuous groups which are to describe symmetries of quantum systems, one must first identify the objects on which the elements of these groups are acting.

Extended SUSY quantum mechanics, intertwining operators and coherent states

2009

Abstract We propose an extension of supersymmetric quantum mechanics which produces a family of isospectral Hamiltonians. Our procedure slightly extends the idea of intertwining operators. Several examples of the construction are given. Further, we show how to build up vector coherent states of the Gazeau–Klauder type associated to our Hamiltonians.

Evolution of Mixed Dirac Particles Interacting with an External Magnetic Field

2007

We study in the framework of relativistic quantum mechanics the evolution of a system of two Dirac neutrinos that mix with each other and have non-vanishing magnetic moments. The dynamics of this system in an external magnetic field is determined by solving the Pauli-Dirac equation with a given initial condition. We consider first neutrino spin-flavor oscillations in a constant magnetic field and derive an analytical expression for the transition probability of spin-flavor conversion in the limit of small magnetic interactions. We then investigate ultrarelativistic neutrinos in an transversal magnetic field and derive their wave functions and transition probabilities with no limitation for …

Coulomb excitation of exotic nuclei at the R3B-LAND setup

2012

Exotic Ni isotopes have been measured at the R3B-LAND setup at GSI in Darmstadt, using Coulomb excitation in inverse kinematics at beam energies around 500 MeV/u. As the experimental setup allows kinematically complete measurements, the excitation energy was reconstructed using the invariant mass method. The GDR and additional low-lying strength have been observed in 68Ni, the latter exhausting 4.1(1.9)% of the E1 energy-weighted sum rule. Also, the branching ratio for the non-statistical decay of the excited 68Ni nuclei was measured and amounts to 24(4)%.

Electromagnetic sum rules for light nuclei

2008

Electromagnetic sum rules describe gross features of the electromagnetic structure of nuclei 1). A well known example is the Thomas-Reiche-Kuhn (TRK) sum rule, which relates the integrated total El-absorption cross section to the ground state expectation value of the double commutator of the dipole operator D with the nuclear Hamiltonian. While the k inet ic energy gives a model independent contr ibut ion, i . e . , the classical sum rule ~cl = 60 NZ/A MeV mb, the nuclear twobody potential gives an additional contr ibution in the presence of exchange and/or momentum dependent (or nonlocal) forces. In this case, I
