Algunas reflexiones acerca de la stjue de 9 de julio de 2020 sobre los pactos novatorios en materia de cláusulas suelo
2021
The Sentence of the Court of Justice of the European Union of July 9, 2020 comes to answer the five questions that, in its preliminary question, the Court of First Instance and Instruction No. 3 of Teruel asks about the validity of the new agreements in the context of the floor clauses, establishing jurisprudential doctrine on this matter about which our Supreme Court had previously ruled in its Judgments of October 16, 2017, in the sense of considering the agreed floor clause null as a consequence of the novation agreement and, subsequently, those of April 11, 2018 and September 13, 2018 in the opposite direction, declaring that the novation agreement was valid. It is a long-awaited and in…
Enzymatically Synthesized Inorganic Polymers as Morphogenetically Active Bone Scaffolds
2014
In recent years a paradigm shift in understanding of human bone formation has occurred that starts to change current concepts in tissue engineering of bone and cartilage. New discoveries revealed that fundamental steps in biomineralization are enzyme driven, not only during hydroxyapatite deposition, but also during initial bioseed formation, involving the transient deposition and subsequent transformation of calcium carbonate to calcium phosphate mineral. The principal enzymes mediating these reactions, carbonic anhydrase and alkaline phosphatase, open novel targets for pharmacological intervention of bone diseases like osteoporosis, by applying compounds acting as potential activators of …

Thermal sprayed coatings for protection against cavitation erosion
2018
In order to protect the hydraulic components from cavitation erosion phenomena, the parts are often coated by thermal spraying. Buck YSZ shows an excellent performance against cavitation erosion. However, the cavitation erosion resistance of YSZ coatings have vaguely been studied. Therefore, in this study, YSZ were manufactured with different thermal spraying processes and post-treated by laser remelting, then they were subjected to cavitation tests according to ASTM G32.The YSZ coating was first manufactured by atmospheric plasma spraying (APS). Various sizes of YSZ powder and different preheating temperatures of the substrate were studied to observe their effect on the cavitation behavior…
Chromatin Domains and Regulation of Transcription
2007
Compartmentalization and compaction of DNA in the nucleus is the characteristic feature of eukaryotic cells. A fully extended DNA molecule has to be compacted 100,000 times to fit within the nucleus. At the same time it is critical that various DNA regions remain accessible for interaction with regulatory factors and transcription/replication factories. This puzzle is solved at the level of DNA packaging in chromatin that occurs in several steps: rolling of DNA onto nucleosomes, compaction of nucleosome fiber with formation of the so-called 30 nm fiber, and folding of the latter into the giant (50-200 kbp) loops, fixed onto the protein skeleton, the nuclear matrix. The general assumption is…
Cytotoxicity and dentin composition alterations promoted by different chemomechanical caries removal agents : a preliminary in vitro study
2021
Background The use of chemomechanical agents for caries removal has been indicated as a non-invasive treatment option; however, their possible deleterious effects on the dental-pulp complex have been insufficiently studied. This study assessed the direct cytotoxicity of two chemomechanical caries removal agents (Brix 3000™ - BX and Papacarie Duo™ - PD) on pulp cells from deciduous teeth, as well as to assess the morphology and chemical compositions of the dentin surface after the application of these materials. Material and methods The cells were seeded (50,000 cells/cm²) in a culture medium (DMEM with 10% fetal bovine serum - FBS). After 24 hours, the BX and PD materials were added to 1:20…
Impact of treatment with dimethyl fumarate on sleep quality in patients with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis: A multicentre Italian wearable t…
2023
Background Sleep disorders are common in patients with multiple sclerosis and have a bidirectional interplay with fatigue and depression. Objective To evaluate the effect of treatment with oral dimethyl fumarate on the quality of sleep in relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis. Methods This was a multicentre observational study with 223 relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis subjects starting treatment with dimethyl fumarate ( n=177) or beta interferon ( n=46). All patients underwent subjective (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index) and objective (wearable tracker) measurements of quality of sleep. Fatigue, depression, and quality of life were also investigated and physical activity was monitored…
An essential switch in subunit composition of a chromatin remodeling complex during neural development.
2007
Summary Mammalian neural stem cells (NSCs) have the capacity to both self-renew and to generate all the neuronal and glial cell-types of the adult nervous system. Global chromatin changes accompany the transition from proliferating NSCs to committed neuronal lineages, but the mechanisms involved have been unclear. Using a proteomics approach, we show that a switch in subunit composition of neural, ATP-dependent SWI/SNF-like chromatin remodeling complexes accompanies this developmental transition. Proliferating neural stem and progenitor cells express complexes in which BAF45a, a Kruppel/PHD domain protein and the actin-related protein BAF53a are quantitatively associated with the SWI2/SNF2-…
Caveolin and GLT-1 gene expression is reciprocally regulated in primary astrocytes: Association of GLT-1 with non-caveolar lipid rafts
2004
Caveolae represent membrane microdomains acting as integrators of cellular signaling and functional processes. Caveolins are involved in the biogenesis of caveolae and regulate the activity of caveolae-associated proteins. Although caveolin proteins are found in the CNS, the regulation of caveolins in neural cells is poorly described. In the present study, we investigated different modes and mechanisms of caveolin gene regulation in primary rat astrocytes. We demonstrated that activation of cAMP-dependent signaling pathways led to a marked reduction in protein levels of caveolin-1/-2 in cortical astrocytes. Application of transforming growth factor-alpha (TGF-alpha) also resulted in a decre…
Contralateral potentials in the suprasylvian gyrus evoked by pulvinar stimulation.
1974
AbstractIn encephale isole cats the transmission of the bioelectrical activity in the suprasylvian gyrus, evoked by contralateral pulvinar stimulation was explored. Through the excitability increase and decrease of the pulvinar (by strychnine or KCl, respectively), the surgical removal of the ipsilateral suprasylvian gyrus and the electrocoagulation of the posterior commissure it appeared that the transmission of the activity in the suprasylvian gyrus evoked by contralateral pulvinar stimulation occurs through both the callosal and the interthalamic pathway.
