Linee guida per la valutazione della resilienza delle foreste Mediterranee ai cambiamenti climatici [Guidelines for assessing the resilience of Medit…
2017
We have defined optimal management models for improving or strengthening the resilience of forest environments: in particular, five best management practices aiming at improving the Mediterranean forests resilience with reference to the desertification risk. The 5 Best ManagementPractices are: BMP1 - Actions favoring mixing of species and hydrogeological stability of forests; BMP2 - Renaturalization of forest plantations; BMP3 - Remedial measures and restoration of degraded forests; BMP4 - Actions aimed at enhancing complex structural forests; BMP5 - Actions favoring connectivity in agro-forestry systems. The best management practices have been then applied adapting them to 16 different int…

Lo sviluppo resiliente. Diritti umani, inclusione ed esclusione differenziale nelle politiche di capacity development
2019
The relationship between concepts such as resilience, capacity development, empowerment and poverty reduction, and their corresponding practices, works as a matrix of neoliberal subjectivation processes involving both men and women on a global level. In the framework of the human resilience paradigm, the concepts and political practices of development have taken on a particularly strategic value and conceptual meaning, and are producing unexpected effects in term of inclusion, exclusion, abandonment, and exploitation. Analysing capacity development policies as relates to resilience allows us to observe how Governmentality regulates the life and death of people on the global scene of the lat…
When Violence Can Appear With Different Male Partners: Identification of Resilient and Non-resilient Women in the European Union
2018
Introduction: Little scholarly attention has been paid to the analysis of the history of intimate partner violence (IPV) against women with different male partners and how it could be related to levels of IPV with the current male partner. From this point of view, been a victim of IPV could increase the vulnerability of women and, therefore, exert a negative influence on the selection of partners over time, thus increasing the odds of potentially mating with abusive male partners. Alternatively, for some women victims of IPV in previous relationships, there may be additional resources that reduce their vulnerability to victimization by new partners. Methodology: The present study analyzes l…
Analyzing Regional Geographic Challenges: The Resilience of Chinese Vineyards to Land Degradation Using a Societal and Biophysical Approach
2021
Land degradation, especially soil erosion, is a societal issue that affects vineyards worldwide, but there are no current investigations that inform specifically about soil erosion rates in Chinese vineyards. In this review, we analyze this problem and the need to avoid irreversible damage to soil and their use from a regional point of view. Information about soil erosion in vineyards has often failed to reach farmers, and we can affirm that to this time, soil erosion in Chinese vineyards has been more of a scientific hypothesis than an agronomic or environmental concern. Two hypotheses can be presented to justify this review: (i) there are no official and scientific investigations on viney…
Trasformazioni urbane tra criticità irrisolte e sfide moderne
2021
Esiste quella ideale, ovver…
Changing Policy Environments in Europe and the Resilience of the Third Sector
2020
Contains fulltext : 202754.pdf (Publisher’s version ) (Closed access) In the article, we analyse the impact of changing policy environments on the development of the third sector in Europe. Based on the results of systematic comparative research in eight European countries (Austria, Croatia, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain and the UK), we identify commonalities and differences. In a three-step analysis, we examine policy changes, effects on the third sector and responses by third sector organizations (TSOs) in the social domain. Overall, the third sector in Europe has proven resilient. However, not only have public and private funding decreased, the process for acquiring suc…
Introducing “healthcare resilience” in clinical risk management
2016
This paper reports the results of an explorative case study in an Italian hospital and presents a conceptual framework for healthcare resilience, which clarifies why and how healthcare structures need to be resilient in order to fully deal with clinical risk. In other words, it is not sufficient to take the “path to zero harm”. Healthcare companies have also to pursue strategies for maximizing the organizational resilience, in terms of resistance, reliability, redundancy and flexibility. This is quite important because, no matter which CRM technique and/or best practice is adopted, sometime adverse events occur. And, in this case, being resilient can help in dampening their negative consequ…
Parental Stress and ASD
2016
The objectives of this study were (a) to evaluate parental stress in parents of children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD group) and compare it with the stress in parents of children with typical development (comparison group); (b) to study the relationship between parental stress, autism severity, and both verbal and performance IQ; and (c) to study the relationship between parental stress and resilience. Parental stress in the ASD group was clinically significant and higher than in the comparison group. The child’s autism severity was a significant predictor of parental stress related to the child’s distractibility and hyperactivity. The child’s verbal IQ was a significant predictor o…
Community Resilience in Crises : Technology and Social Media Enablers
2014
Technology can contribute greatly to disaster resilience, especially by enhancing the interconnectedness between the authorities and the public and by facilitating the rapid exchange of information. This special issue of Human Technology: An Interdisciplinary Journal on Humans in ICT Environments is focused on technology and social media enablers of community resilience. Crises take on a variety of shapes and forms—natural or health disasters, terroristic and criminal acts, technology malfunctions, and large-scale accidents—at the local, regional, national, and global levels. Crisis management plans, created and implemented at the organizational level, typically involve public service and i…
