Garantías legales del concepto de privacidad: Entre el derecho al olvido y el nuevo reglamento europeo de protección de datos
2018
The operation of new technologies and the supply of digital goods involves for users to disclose their personal data. The market data is already a reality with the danger that this entails for the privacy of citizens. The new General Data Protection Regulation has created a new legal framework that aims to radically change the current model, giving users greater powers to control their data. A good example of this is the express statement, and for the first time, of the right to be forgotten, which allows citizens to digitally erase their data when other fundamental rights are endangered.
Improved bioaccessibility and antioxidant capacity of olive leaf ( Olea europaea L.) polyphenols through biosorption on Saccharomyces cerevisiae
2016
Abstract Olive ( Olea europaea L.) leaves (OL) are natural by-products that can be used as an advantageous rich source of bioactive compounds, especially polyphenols. This study investigated the potential use of Saccharomyces cerevisiae as a new carrier of OL antioxidants and a means to protect their bioactivity during simulated gastrointestinal digestion. The biosorption on S. cerevisiae allowed the recovery of 25.17 mg/g and 49.40% of the polyphenols from olive leaf (var. Chemlali ) infusions. Both infusions and suspensions before and after biosorption were analyzed for total soluble polyphenols and total antioxidant capacity (oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC) and trolox equivalen…
Asymptotic potentials and rate constants in the adiabatic capture centrifugal sudden approximation for X + OH(X-2 Pi) -> OX + H(S-2) reactions where …
2012
International audience; New long-range multipolar coefficients for the X + OH(X-2 Pi) interactions, where X = O(P-3), S(P-3) and N(S-4), are given here. They have been evaluated on the basis or monomer properties of the atoms and OH such as the dipole and quadrupole moments, and the static and dynamic polarizabilities. Each matrix element of the 18 x 18 (8 x 8 for N + OH) quasi-degenerate asymptotic potentials has been built up by means of the perturbation theory up to second order including or not the fine-structure of O, S and OH. The adiabatic potentials, obtained after diagonalization of the full matrix, show many crossings and complex behaviors near the asymptotes. Using the entrance c…
Multi-Arm Star Polyglycerol-block-poly(tert-butyl acrylate) and the Respective Multi-Arm Poly(acrylic acid) Stars
2006
Well-defined multi-arm star block copolymers, polyglycerol-block-poly(tert-butyl acrylate) (PG-b-PtBA), with average arm-numbers of 17, 27, 36, 66 and 90 arms, respectively, have been prepared by atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of tBA in acetone, using a core-first strategy. After hydrolysis with excess concentrated HCl in refluxing dioxane, full hydrolysis of the tert-butyl ester groups was achieved, resulting in multi-arm star polyelectrolytes, polyglycerol-block-poly(acrylic acid) (PG-b-PAA). The hyperbranched macroinitiators employed were prepared on the basis of hyperbranched polyglycerols via esterification with 2-bromoisobutyryl bromide. Both CuBr/PMDETA and CuBr/Me 6 TRE…
Control of the production of oxygen intermediates of human polymorphonuclear leukocytes and monocytes by beta-adrenergic receptors.
1983
The control by beta-adrenergic receptors of the production of oxygen radicals by zymosan-stimulated human polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMN) and monocytes (M phi) was studied in vitro by means of chemiluminescence. In addition we asked whether PMN and M phi exhibit differential sensitivity to beta-adrenergic stimulation. For beta-adrenergic stimulation we applied fenoterol ranging from 10(-5) to 10(-9) M x 2.7. We found a dose-dependent suppression of the production of oxygen radicals, the ID50 being approximately 10(-6) M both for PMN and M phi. By assessment of lactic dehydrogenase release a cytotoxic effect of the drug could be ruled out. When incubated together with the beta-adrenergic …
Validity of Laparoscopic Staging to Avoid Adjuvant Chemoradiation following Radical Surgery in Patients with Early Cervical Cancer
2012
Purpose: To determine the rate of unavoidable adjuvant chemoradiation (RCTX) due to histologic results after radical surgery in patients with early cervical cancer. Patients and Methods: Between May 2004 and July 2011, 448 consecutive patients diagnosed with invasive cervical cancer stage IA1 L1 to IIA underwent laparoscopic staging at the Department of Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology at Charité Berlin. Only in patients without lymph node metastases (n = 394) on frozen section, radical operation was continued either by laparoscopic radical hysterectomy (n = 228) or by radical vaginal trachelectomy (n = 166). The…
How to select early-stage cervical cancer patients still suitable for laparoscopic radical hysterectomy: a propensity-matched study
2020
Background: Recently, it was reported that minimally invasive surgery (MIS) has a negative impact on early-stage cervical cancer (ECC) patient survival. At the same time, advantages of MIS regarding quality of life and low rate of intra- and postoperative complications are well known. Therefore, it is essential to select patients who may benefit from MIS without worsening their oncologic outcomes. The aim of this study is to investigate which pathological factors could guide surgeons’ choice about the best approach in ECC. Patients and Methods: Patients with 2009 FIGO stage from IA1 with lymphovascular space invasion (LVSI) to IB1/IIA1 treated by open or laparoscopic surgery were judged eli…
External Validation of Nomogram Predicting the Probability of Specimen-Confined Disease (pT2-3a, R0N0) in Patients Undergoing Radical Prostatectomy a…
2014
Introduction: Before radical prostatectomy (RP), a nomogram [Briganti et al., Eur Urol 2012;61:584-592] permits to measure the probability of specimen-confined (SC) disease (pT2-pT3a, node negative with negative margins) in high-risk prostate cancer (PCa). The aim of our study was to perform an external validation of this nomogram. Materials and Methods: Between 2007 and 2011, 623 patients with high-risk PCa (prostate-specific antigen (PSA) >20 ng/ml and/or biopsy Gleason score ≥8 and/or clinical stage T3) underwent RP and pelvic lymph node dissection at tertiary referral centers. Multivariable logistic regression models predicting the presence of SC disease were built in; we then used the …
Oxygen Radical Production by Alveolar Inflammatory Cells in Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis
1990
Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a chronic inflammatory interstitial lung disease characterized by the accumulation of alveolar macrophages (AMs) and neutrophils in the lower respiratory tract, parenchymal cell injury, and fibrosis of the alveolar structure. Reactive oxygen intermediates (ROI) are claimed to be a major cause of tissue damage in IPF; however, the source of ROI has not been unequivocally identified. AMs, as well as neutrophils, are capable of releasing these agents. The contributions of these possible sources are not known. To address this question, we evaluated the spontaneous and stimulated (PMA or zymosan) ROI release of total bronchoalveolar cells and isolated AMs i…
Long-term outcome of patients with or without osseointegrated implants after resection of mandibular ameloblastoma and reconstruction with vasculariz…
2018
BACKGROUND: The optimal management after the resection of mandibular ameloblastoma has been very challenging to surgeons. The aim of this study is to evaluate the functional, aesthetic, and quality of life outcomes of patients who had a segmental mandibular resection and immediate reconstruction with or without osseointegrated implants. METHOD: Patients' demographics, tumor characteristics, treatment, and complications were retrieved. Patients were divided into two groups: dental rehabilitated vs. nondental rehabilitated depending on the placement of osseointegrated implants followed by an implanted-retained prosthesis. Functional outcomes and quality of life were assessed using the Perform…
