Complete Genome Sequence of the Enterobacter cancerogenus Bacteriophage Enc34

ABSTRACT Enterobacter cancerogenus is widely distributed in nature and is generally recovered from environmental or vegetal sources. In some cases, it has also been associated with human infections. In this study, the complete genomic sequence of virulent E. cancerogenus bacteriophage Enc34 was determined. The Enc34 genome is 60,364 bp in length and contains 80 open reading frames. To our knowledge, this is the first report of a bacteriophage infecting E. cancerogenus .

In this article the author explores the early development of the identity as a writer of a Finnish-speaking poet Lovisa (or Isa) Asp (1853–1872). She wrote her lyrics in the Finnish language in the 1870s, and she is regarded as the first 19th-century female Finnish poet (whose works were published in Finnish). She began writing poetry (initially in Swedish) as a teenager and started her literary career as a contributor to children’s magazines. Asp began her studies at the Teacher Training College in Jyväskylä in autumn 1871 with the aim of working as an elementary school teacher, but she also dreamt of becoming an established writer someday. Abstract The nuclear encoded mitochondrial D -3-hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenase (BDH) is synthesized in the cytosal as a larger precursor. This membrane enzyme which requires lecithin for activity plays an essential role in energy metabolism as a ketone bodies-converting enzyme. A cDNA clone of the rat liver enzyme encompassing an antigenic determinant peptide has been isolated after immunoscreening of a λ gt11 expression library. The nucleotide sequence of this 279-base cDNA insert contains a single open reading frame of 93 amino-acids, which represents about a third of the mature enzyme. The aim of this study is to assess the role of readers’ proficiency and of the base-word distributional properties on eye-movement behavior. Sixty-two typically developing children, attending 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade, were asked to read derived words in a sentence context. Target words were nouns derived from noun bases (e.g., umorista, ‘humorist’), which in Italian are shared by few derived words, and nouns derived from verb bases (e.g., punizione, ‘punishment’), which are shared by about 50 different inflected forms and several derived words. Abstract The aim of our project was to deepen understanding of the legacy of our predecessors, which are to be found in the historical centre of Sibiu, to develop map reading skills using the techniques and rules of orienteering. Most students participated enthusiastically in the search for historical sights and found the activity extremely attractive. Finnish-Swedish artist and writer Tove Jansson (1914–2001), widely known as the author of the Moomin books, was born in Helsinki and resided there for the greater part of her life. The city features as a setting for her adult-oriented fiction – notably, semi-autobiographical fix-up novels Sculptor’s Daughter (1968/2015) and Fair Play (1989/2011). This article adopts a situated approach to literary geography, examining the researcher’s own position as a Helsinki resident and a ‘situated’ reader. Immunoscreening of a Candida albicans cDNA library in the expression vector lambda gt11 with rabbit polyclonal antibodies against the 37 kDa cell surface laminin receptor of C albicans resulted in the isolation of a cDNA clone of 0.9 kb. Sequencing of this clone demonstrated a full length open reading frame encoding the polyubiquitin, which contains three tandem copies, head-to-tail spacerless repeats, of the 228 nucleotides coding for the 76 amino acids of the ubiquitin protein, which is identical to that of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Perceptual-Cognitive Skills and Performance in Orienteering

The goal was analysis of the perceptual-cognitive skills associated with sport performance in orienteering in a sample of 22 elite and 17 nonelite runners. Variables considered were memory, basic orienteering techniques, map reading, symbol knowledge, map-terrain-map identification, and spatial organisation. A computerised questionnaire was developed to measure the variables. The reliability of the test (agreement between experts) was 90%. Findings suggested that competence in performing basic orienteering techniques efficiently was a key variable differentiating between the elite and the nonelite athletes. The results are discussed in comparison with previous studies.
