Bicycling to school improves the cardiometabolic risk factor profile:a randomised controlled trial
2012
Objectives To investigate whether bicycling to school improves cardiometabolic risk factor profile and cardiorespiratory fitness among children. Design Prospective, blinded, randomised controlled trial. Setting Single centre study in Odense, Denmark Participants 43 children previously not bicycling to school were randomly allocated to control group (n=20) (ie, no change in lifestyle) or intervention group (ie, bicycling to school) (n=23). Primary and secondary outcome measures Change in cardiometabolic risk factor score and change in cardiorespiratory fitness. Results All participants measured at baseline returned at follow-up. Based upon intention-to-treat (ITT) analyses, clustering of car…
Experiencing with electronic image stabilization and PRNU through scene content image registration
2021
Abstract This paper explores content-based image registration as a means of dealing with and understanding better Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) in the context of Photo Response Non-Uniformity (PRNU) alignment. A novel and robust solution to extrapolate the transformation relating the different image output formats for a given device model is proposed. This general approach can be adapted to specifically extract the scale factor (and, when appropriate, the translation) so as to align native resolution images to video frames, with or without EIS on, and proceed to compare PRNU patterns. Comparative evaluations show that the proposed approach outperforms those based on brute-force and p…
AUTOMATIC QUALITY ENHANCEMENT AND NERVE FIBRE LAYER ARTEFACTS REMOVAL IN RETINA FUNDUS IMAGES BY OFF AXIS IMAGING
2011
International audience; Retinal fundus images acquired with non-mydriatic digital fundus cameras are a versatile tool for the diagnosis of various retinal diseases. Even with relative ease of use, the images produced sometimes suffer from reflectance artefacts mainly due to the nerve fibre layer (NFL) or camera lens related reflections. We propose a technique that employs multiple fundus images to obtain a single higher quality image without these reflectance artefacts, which also compensates for a suboptimal illumination. The removal of bright artefacts, can have great benefits for the reduction of false positives in the detection of retinal lesions by automatic systems or manual inspectio…
Dynamic 3D Scene Reconstruction and Enhancement
2017
International audience; In this paper, we present a 3D reconstruction and enhancement approach for high quality dynamic city scene reconstructions. We first detect and segment the moving objects using 3D Motion Segmenta-tion approach by exploiting the feature trajectories' behaviours. Getting the segmentations of both the dynamic scene parts and the static scene parts, we propose an efficient point cloud registration approach which takes the advantages of 3-point RANSAC and Iterative Closest Points algorithms to produce precise point cloud alignment. Furthermore, we proposed a point cloud smoothing and texture mapping framework to enhance the results of reconstructions for both the static a…
Mean sets for building 3D probabilistic liver atlas from perfusion MR images
2012
This paper is concerned with liver atlas construction. One of the most important issues in the framework of computational abdominal anatomy is to define an atlas that provides a priori information for common medical task such as registration and segmentation. Unlike other approaches already proposed so far (to our knowledge), in this paper we propose to use the concept of random compact mean set to build probabilistic liver atlases. To accomplish this task a two-tier process was carried out. First a set of 3D images was manually segmented by a physician. We see the different 3D segmented shapes as a realization of a random compact set. Secondly, elements of two known definitions of mean set…
Fingerprint Registration Using Specialized Genetic Algorithms
2005
One of the most common problem to realize a robust matching algorithm in an Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) is the images registration. In this paper a fingerprints registration method based on a specialized genetic algorithm (GA) is proposed. A global transformation between two fingerprint images is performed using genetic data evolutions based on specialized mutation rate and solution refining. An AFIS including the above method has been developed and tested on two different fingerprint databases: NIST 4 ink-on-paper and self optical scanned. The obtained experimental results show that the proposed approach is comparable with literature systems working on medium quality…
Three-dimensional Fuzzy Kernel Regression framework for registration of medical volume data
2013
Abstract In this work a general framework for non-rigid 3D medical image registration is presented. It relies on two pattern recognition techniques: kernel regression and fuzzy c-means clustering. The paper provides theoretic explanation, details the framework, and illustrates its application to implement three registration algorithms for CT/MR volumes as well as single 2D slices. The first two algorithms are landmark-based approaches, while the third one is an area-based technique. The last approach is based on iterative hierarchical volume subdivision, and maximization of mutual information. Moreover, a high performance Nvidia CUDA based implementation of the algorithm is presented. The f…
Functional statistics based method for the evaluation of the registration of sequences of 3D perfusion MR images
2011
Accurate registration of medical images is a necessary task for several important diagnosis techniques. Nevertheless, it is a difficult challenge due to movement of the patient, deformations, noise in the signal, etc. Besides, evaluation of the quality of the performed registration is also troublesome, specially when no golden pattern (true result) is available and/or when the signal values may have changed between successive images/volumes to be registered.
Detection of power line insulators on digital images with the use of laser spots
2019
The massive growth of technologies used to register and process digital images allow for their application in evaluating the technical condition of power lines. However, it is not possible without a set of dedicated methods for obtaining diagnostic information based on registered video data. The method described here details the detection of power line insulators in digital images featuring diversified backgrounds using laser spots. The algorithm of detecting an insulator in analysed images is based on testing the digital signal of pixel intensity profiles read between subsequent pairs of laser points in the image. The method is comprised of the following stages: import the image with laser…

Hemodynamic function studies with radioactive tracers A new set-up, a multichannel function test device, is described for performing hemodynamic function studies with radioactive tracers. After injection of radioactive labelled particles of definite physical and chemical properties, the distribution of radioactivity can be registered simultaneously as function of time at 6 different sites of the body. Each of the 6 detectors used, one of them can be replaced by a fore-arm counter, is equipped with two channels, which can be individually adjusted to the photopeaks of two different radioisotopes. The data are either/not only stored on magnetic tape or/but also fed into a memory unit operating…
