ABSTRACT Several expressed sequence tags (ESTs) with homology to chitin deacetylase-like protein (CDA) were selected from a group of Helicoverpa armigera genes whose expression changed after infection with H. armigera single nucleopolyhedrovirus (HearNPV). Some of these ESTs coded for a midgut protein containing a chitin deacetylase domain (CDAD). The expressed protein, HaCDA5a, did not show chitin deacetylase activity, but it showed a strong affinity for binding to chitin. Human parvovirus B19 is an autonomously replicating human pathogen with a specific tropism for human erythroid progenitor cells. There is an interest in producing empty nucleocapsids of B19 as they can be used as tools in molecular biology and diagnostics. Native B19 virus particles are formed from two structural viral proteins, VP1 and VP2. The VP2 protein alone is able to self assemble and consequently form virus-like particles (VLPs) in heterologous expression systems. Efficient contactless power transfer system for EVs

Based on the inductive power transfer (IPT), the contactless approach allows safe and comfortable operations of battery charging for Electric Vehicles (EVs). In this paper, a contactless system particularly suitable for E-bike battery charging is proposed. A practical realization of the system has been carried out, aiming at the system evaluation in terms of working and efficiency. Through a phase shift modulation, a power regulation has been implemented. The target power level is 100 W.
Analysis of a Fast Reserve Unit Behaviour with Additional Modular Synthetic Inertia Control

The paper presents the results of a theoretical study on the behaviour of a battery storage system operated as a Fast Reserve Unit and equipped with additional synthetic inertia control. The Fast Reserve Unit is assumed connected to the transmission system of Sicily, operated as an isolated grid in order to show more clearly the effect of the Fast Reserve Unit intervention during a power imbalance. Control subsystem design for wireless power transfer

Recently, the wireless power transfer has been increasingly employed. Particularly for the electric vehicles, the wireless solution is attractive for contactless battery charging, based on the Inductive Power Transfer (IPT). In this paper, a 150W prototype for IPT-based battery charging is presented and design criteria are reported. In addition to the power stage analysis, a proper control strategy is proposed. Simulation and experimental results are shown. The proposed control method aims at regulating the load current against variations in the magnetic coupling, so that the required amount of power can be supplied despite of unexpected decreases in the coupling efficiency.

Abstract The beta3 adrenergic receptor (B3-AR) reportedly induces cell proliferation, but the signaling pathways that were proposed, involving either Gs or Gi coupling, remain controversial. To further investigate the role of G protein coupling in B3-AR induced proliferation, we stimulated primary human myometrial smooth muscle cells with SAR150640 (B3-AR agonist) in the absence or presence of variable G-protein inhibitors. These complexes consist of 144 heme-bearing subunits, exhibit a characteristic quaternary structure (2 × (6 × (3 × 4))), and contain tetramers as basic substructures that express cooperative oxygen binding and thus provide a structural basis for a hierarchy in allosteric interactions. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) released by parasites have important roles in establishing and maintaining infection. Analysis of the soluble and vesicular secretions of adult Fasciola hepatica has established a definitive characterisation of the total secretome of this zoonotic parasite. Fasciola secretes at least two sub-populations of EVs that differ according to size, cargo molecules and site of release from the parasite. In the lactatingmammary gland, weaning produces mitochondrial cytochrome c release and nuclear DNA fragmentation, as determined by gel electrophoresis. This is followed by a significant decrease in lactation. Weaning for 2 h produces an early induction of the tumour suppressor/transcription factor p53, whereas the oncoprotein c-Jun and c-Jun N-terminal kinase are elevated after 24 h of weaning when compared with controls.
