Głównym celem artykułu jest przedstawienie funkcji Prezydenta RP analizowanych pod kątem praktyki politycznej. Tak sformułowany cel pracy wychodzi poza ujęcie formalno-prawne, jednocześnie wskazując na praktyczne wymiary funkcji pełnionych przez głowę państwa w polskim systemie politycznym. Podstawową hipotezę badawczą stanowi założenie, zgodnie z którym Prezydent RP za sprawą posiadanych prerogatyw ma możliwość pełnienia roli aktywnego aktora na polskiej scenie politycznej. Wybory prezydenckie pomimo dużego stopnia spersonalizowania, stanowią ważną przestrzeń rywalizacji międzypartyjnej. Doświadczenia polskich elekcji prezydenckich pokazują, że są one zdominowane przez kandydatów partyjnych. Problem Questions of Insurance Contract Regulation in Latvia

This paper reviews significant defects of Latvian Insurance Contract Law arising from its drafting procedure and interrelation with other laws. Particular attention is paid to the out-dated approaches contained in this law, and the paper discusses them in conjunction with approaches developed in other European countries, including neighboring countries. The paper challenges inclusion of regulations of insurance contract in the above mentioned separate law and instead proposes its inclusion in the Civil Law of the Republic of Latvia, and provides grounds for such proposal.

Background: Previous literature suggests that higher ambient temperature may play a role in increasing the risk of suicide. However, no multi-country study has explored the shape of the association and the role of moderate and extreme heat across different locations. Objectives: We examined the short-term temperature–suicide relationship using daily time-series data collected for 341 locations in 12 countries for periods ranging from 4 to 40 y.
