The table olive industry generates high amounts of wastewater annually during the alkaline treatment, fermentation, and washing steps of olives. High conductivity and salt content, as well as the high organic and biophenol contents of these waters, is a worldwide problem, especially in the Mediterranean region, which is the major table olive producing area. Phosphorus recovery by struvite (MgNH(4)PO(4).6H(2)O) crystallization is one of the most widely recommended technologies for treating sludge digester liquors especially in wastewater treatments plants (WWTP) with enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR). In this paper, phosphorus recovery by struvite crystallization is assessed using the rejected liquors resulting from four different operational strategies of the sludge treatment line. Phosphorus precipitation and recovery efficiencies of between 80-90% and 70-85%, respectively, were achieved in the four experiments. The need for monitoring tools to better control the ongoing coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic is extremely urgent and the contamination of water resources by excreted viral particles poses alarming questions to be answered. Platinum chloride-based viability RT-qPCR for SARS-CoV-2 detection in complex samples.

Isolation, contact tracing and restrictions on social movement are being globally implemented to prevent and control onward spread of SARS-CoV-2, even though the infection risk modelled on RNA detection by RT-qPCR remains biased as viral shedding and infectivity are not discerned. Thus, we aimed to develop a rapid viability RT-qPCR procedure to infer SARS-CoV-2 infectivity in clinical specimens and environmental samples. Improving detection limits for organotin compounds in several matrix water samples by derivatization-headspace-solid-phase microextraction and GC-MS.

Triethyltin, tributyltin, diphenyltin and triphenyltin were selected as model compounds. The method is based on in situ ethylation and simultaneous headspace-solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) and gas chromatographic-mass spectrometry analysis (GC-MS). The extraction procedure was optimized studying some variables such as reaction time, salinity, sample volume and headspace volume. SPME-GC-MS and SPME-GC-FID techniques were compared; quality assurance parameters such as sensitivity, selectivity and precision were established. Dynamic Membranes for Enhancing Resources Recovery from Municipal Wastewater

[EN] This paper studied the feasibility of using dynamic membranes (DMs) to treat municipal wastewater (MWW). Effluent from the primary settler of a full-scale wastewater treatment plant was treated using a flat 1 mu m pore size open monofilament polyamide woven mesh as supporting material. Two supporting material layers were required to self-form a DM in the short-term (17 days of operation).
