Analysis of neuropeptide Y and its metabolites by high-performance liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization mass spectrometry and integrated sam…

2000

A novel restricted access cation exchanger with sulphonic acid groups at the internal surface was proven to be highly suitable in the sample clean up of peptides on-line coupled to HPLC-electrospray ionization (ESI)-MS. Neuropeptide Y (NPY) and several of its fragments in plasma were subjected to the sample clean-up procedure. The peptides were eluted by a step gradient from the restricted access column, applying 10 mM phosphate buffer pH 3.5 from 5 to 20% (v/v) of acetonitrile with 1 M NaCl and transferred to a Micra ODS II column (33x4.6 mm). The separation of the peptides and their fragments was performed by a linear gradient from 20 to 60% (v/v) acetonitrile in water with 0.1% formic ac…

Enrichment of proteinaceous materials on a strong cation-exchange diol silica restricted access material: protein–protein displacement and interactio…

2004

A study of size exclusion and enrichment of proteins employing strong cation-exchange diol silica restricted access material (SCX-RAM) under saturation conditions is presented. Experiments were carried out with bacitracin, protamine, ribonuclease, lysozyme and bovine serum albumin as individual proteinaceous analytes as well as comprehensive binary mixtures and with human urine samples. Protein size dependent capacity features of the SCX-RAM column was observed. Bacitracin demonstrated the highest capacity followed by protamine while adsorption capacities of both ribonuclease and lysozyme were found smaller by a factor of 10. Applying binary protein samples occurring displacement effects we…

Chemical and dimensional evolution of cationic ions exchange resins in cement pastes

2013

Ion exchange resins (IERs) are widely used by the nuclear industry to decontaminate radioactive effluents. After use they are usually encapsulated in cementitious materials. However, the solidified waste forms can exhibit a strong expansion, possibly leading to cracking. Its origin is not well understood as well as the conditions when it occurs. In this work, the interactions between cationic resins in the Na+ or Ca2+ form and tricalcium silicate (C3S), Portland cement (CEM I) or Blastfurnace slag cement (CEM III/C) are investigated at an early age in order to gain a better understanding of the expansion process. The results show that during the hydration of a paste of C3S or CEM I containing…

Prosthetically‐Driven Full‐Mouth Implant‐Supported Prostheses Using Guided Surgical Implant Planning with Composite Resin Markers: A Case Report

2021

This report describes a prosthetically-driven implant planning method, guided by the alignment procedures between the cone beam computed tomography, intraoral digital scans, and digitized maxillary and mandibular interim complete dentures using intraoral composite resin markers as a common reference. The markers were attached to the keratinized oral mucosa of the edentulous ridges using cyanoacrylate and kept in place during the digitizing procedures. The technique provides a simpler and more economical alternative to conventional prosthetically-driven static implant planning methods.

The cytotoxicity of resin composites cured with three light curing units at different curing distances.

2011

Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of light curing distance on the cytotoxicity of five resin composites cured with three high-power light curing units. Study design: Seven cylindrical discs of each material (Grandio ®, Voco; Filtek ? Z250, 3M ESPE; Clearfil ? AP-X, Kuraray Co. Ltd.; Aelite ? LS, Bisco Inc. and Simile ®, Pentron) were cured. For curing, soft-up mode of quartz-tungsten-halogen, exponential mode of light emitting diode for 20 s, and ramp-curing mode of plasma arc light curing units for 6 s were used. The curing tip distances were determined as 2 and 9 mm and controlled via the use of metal rings. After ageing the samples for 24 and 72 hours in Dulb…

Effect of cyclic loading on fracture strength and microleakage of a quartz fiber dowel with different adhesive, cement and resin core material combin…

2010

Background: This study evaluated the performance of different adhesive-cement-core combinations coupled with quartz fiber dowels after cyclic loading and fracture strength tests and assessed the microleakage using dye penetration method. Methods: Forty maxillary canines (n=10 per group) were restored with fiber dowels (Quartz fiber DT Light Post) and four adhesive-cement-core material combinations [(Group 1: All-Bond 2+C&B (root) / All-Bond 2+Biscore (core); Group 2: All-Bond 2+Bisfil 2B (root) / All-Bond 2+Bisfil 2B (core); Group 3: Scotchbond 1+RelyX ARC (root) / Scotchbond 1+Supreme (core); Group 4: RelyX Unicem (root) / Scotchbond 1+Filtek Supreme (core)]. Evaluation of marginal leakage after mechanical fatigue cycling of composite inlays luted with different cements

2018

This in vitro study evaluated the marginal microleakage of composite inlays luted with 3 different cement systems. The null hypothesis was that the luting materials would not influence dye penetration, showing the same degree of microleakage. Thirty-six sound molars were selected, mesio-occlusodistal cavities were prepared, and the teeth were randomly divided into 3 groups (n = 12). Composite resin inlay restorations were made and cemented using a dual-curing resin cement (Calibra), a light-curing flowable composite (Charisma Flow), or a self-adhesive resin cement (RelyX Unicem). The restored teeth were subjected to fatigue cycles and immersed in 0.5% basic fuchsin dye for 24 hours. Two ort…

Determination of polymerization shrinkage stress by means of a photoelastic investigation

2002

This study examined the polymerization stress of different established composite resins (Tetric Ceram, Vivadent; EsthetX, Surefil, Dentsply/DeTrey; Clearfil AP-X, Clearfil Photo Posterior, Kuraray; Prodigy Condensable, sds Kerr; Filtek P 60, 3M ESPE; Solitaire 2, Heraeus-Kulzer) by means of a photo-elastic investigation and investigated six new, experimental composite resins, which have been claimed to exhibit less polymerization shrinkage (InTen-S, Vivadent; K 112, K 051, Dentsply/DeTrey; Compox, Pluto, Hermes 3M ESPE).Cylindrical cavities (phi 5 mm) in Araldit B epoxide resin plates (40 x 40 x 3 mm3) were pretreated with the Rocatec system to ensure bonding of the composite resin. Retentive strengths of cast gold crowns using glass ionomer, compomer, or resin cement

1998

The retention forces of a newly developed compomer cement (Dyract Cem), a glass ionomer cement (Ketac Cem Aplicap), and a resin cement (F21) were examined.Cemented cast gold crowns were removed along the path of insertion with a Zwick universal testing device. The impact of both a cured and a noncured additional bonding layer that were applied to the inner surface of the crowns was examined across the Dyract Cem group. The mean adhesive strength was measured at 2.36 +/- 0.69 N/mm2 in the Ketac Cem group, at 0.60 +/- 0.28 N/mm2 in the F21 group, and at 1.85 +/- 0.94 N/mm2 in the Dyract Cem group, respectively. The application of an additional bonding layer to the inner surface of the crowns d…
