High-sensitivity troponin I for risk stratification in normotensive pulmonary embolism

While numerous studies have confirmed the prognostic role of high-sensitivity troponin T (hsTnT) in pulmonary embolism (PE), high-sensitivity troponin I (hsTnI) is inappropriately studied. This study aimed to investigate the prognostic relevance of hsTnI in normotensive PE, establish the optimal cut-off value for risk stratification and to compare the prognostic performances of hsTnI and hsTnT. Training Cardiac Surgeons: Safety and Requirements.

To analyze whether cardiac surgical residents can perform their first surgeries without compromising patients' safety or outcomes, by comparing their performance and results to those of senior surgeons. All documented CABGs conducted between 2002 and 2020 were included. Surgeries were divided according to the experience level of the main surgeon (defined by the number of CABG conducted by him/her) using the following thresholds: 1000; 150; 80 and 35. Clinicians in 25 countries prefer to use lower levels of oxygen to resuscitate preterm infants at birth.

Aim This study determined current international clinical practice and opinions regarding initial fractional inspired oxygen (FiO2) and pulse oximetry (SpO2) targets for delivery room resuscitation of preterm infants of less than 29 weeks of gestation. Methods An online survey was disseminated to neonatal clinicians via established professional clinical networks using a web-based survey programme between March 9 and June 30, 2015. Consequences of neonatal resuscitation with supplemental oxygen.

There has been considerable controversy surrounding the optimal inspired oxygen concentration for resuscitation of term and preterm infants. We have developed a rat pup model to quantify both physiologic and biochemical parameters associated with normoxic vs. hyperoxic resuscitation. We have confirmed existing human data that hyperoxic resuscitation of rat pups is associated with a significant delay in onset of spontaneous respiratory efforts. Both 40% and 100% inspired oxygen delayed onset of respiratory activity when compared to 21% oxygen.
