«Roumain italiens»: pastoralisme et dynamiques migratoires dans le troisième millénaire

2011

This paper considers the phenomenon of migration, by proposing a case study upon the migration of Romanians in Italy. As a consequence of the access of Romania in the UE in January 2007, Romanians became citizens of UE, but, nevertheless, they are not aware of their rights and juridical statute and continue to live in a state of subordination and humility in their interaction with their employers. They do not rebel, since they are afraid of losing their working place. This is a step backwards as to the process of integration, which, as Buttitta noticed, should not lead to a "standardization of the immigrants to the culture of the host country, but to an acceptance of immigrants, as part of …

Le recenti strategie insediative della comunità rumena in Sicilia

2012

In recent years, in Italy the composition of migration stream has undergone significant changes. Some reasons refer to the short-time (eg,the Arab Spring), but other events, such as the entry into the European Union of some countries, may have durable social, economic and cultural effects. This is the case of the Romanian migration to Italy. In Sicily this flow has a greater importance than in other regions and deserves special attention from both researchers and policy makers. In this paper we analyze some settlement aspects of migration of Romanians and the related process of integration.

THE UNINTENDED PERVERTED EFFECTS OF THE RANKING OF UNIVERSITIES WITHIN THE POLITICAL ENVIRONMENTS WITHIN COUNTRIES IN TRANSITION. CASE STUDY: ROMANIA

2011

Ranking has arrived to be compulsory for all countries as a tool to compete in the global world. The ranking’s rules are settled by some couples of global rankers. When their practices are implemented into national environments, mainly in countries under transition, some perverted effects might appear. The paper focuses on effects on politic environments and their follow up on academic communities, students and parents, and civil society as an effect of mass media involvement. The theoretical issues are illustrated by the outcomes in Romania particularly as a consequence of the application of the Educational Law since January 2011.

INTERRELATIONS BETWEEN ECONOMIC FREEDOM, KNOWLEDGE ECONOMY AND GLOBAL COMPETITIVENESS – COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS ROMANIA AND EU AVERAGE

2011

Economic Freedom, Knowledge Economy and Global Competitiveness are three of the many and very different dimensions which characterize the level of a country’s performance. This paper tries to present these three important directions, the specific indicators that measure them – IEF, KEI, GCI – and the relationship between them. Also, it will try to demonstrate that countries with free economy can turn into knowledge and competitive economies. Furthermore, it will make a comparative analysis of Romania with the EU countries’ average in order to identify for Romania which pillar’s scores it has to improve.
