Objective: Trauma during dental surgery is a predisposing factor for bisphosphonates (BP)-related osteonecrosis of the jaws (BRONJ). However, about 40% of cases of BRONJ are not related to dental invasive procedures, being probably associated to endodontic or periodontal infections. Extraction of non-treatable teeth is considered a reliable choice, to improve symptoms and to reduce the risk of BRONJ. Here we report our experience of tooth extractions in patients under oral or intravenous BP therapy. Systemic Treatment in Advanced Phyllodes Tumor of the Breast: A Multi-institutional European Retrospective Case-series Analyses

Abstract Background: We aimed at investigating outcome of systemic treatments in advanced breast PT. Methods: All cases of advanced breast PT treated with systemic treatments from 1999 to 2019, in one of the referral sarcoma centres involved in the study, were retrospectively reviewed. Results: 56 female patients were identified. Median age was 52 (range 25-76) years. Patients re-ceived a median number of 2 systemic treatments (range 1-4). Effect of biomass features on oxygen transfer in conventional activated sludge and membrane bioreactor systems

Abstract The aim of the present study was to compare the oxygen transfer efficiency in a conventional activated sludge and a membrane bioreactor system. The oxygen transfer was evaluated by means of the oxygen transfer coefficient and α-factor calculation, under different total suspended solids concentration, extracellular polymeric substances, sludge apparent viscosity and size of the flocs. Airborne bio-aerosols and noise in a dry waste treatment plant in Pietarsaari, Finland

Ewapower Ltd in Pietarsaari, Finland produces pellets from paper and plastic waste for burning. During 1998 and 1999, several measurements were made to determine the dust, particle, microbe and endotoxin concentrations, and also the noise level in the hall where the waste is received and pre-crushed. The noise level exceeded the Finnish recommended level of 85 dBA. The dust and the particle concentrations were low, but the microbe concentrations, especially in the summer and in the autumn, were at a level which may be harmful to health. Occupational hygiene in terms of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and bioaerosols at two solid waste management plants in Finland

Abstract Factors affecting occupational hygiene were measured at the solid waste transferring plant at Hyvinkaa and at the optic separation plant in Hameenlinna. Measurements consisted of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and bioaerosols including microbes, dust and endotoxins. The most abundant compounds in both of the plants were aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, esters of carboxylic acids, ketones and terpenes. In terms of odour generation, the most important emissions were acetic acid, 2,3-butanedione, ethyl acetate, alpha-pinene and limonene due to their low threshold odour concentrations. A coincidence-point problem of Perov type on rectangular cone metric spaces

We consider a coincidence-point problem in the setting of rectangular cone metric spaces. Using alpha-admissible mappings and following Perov's approach, we establish some existence and uniqueness results for two self-mappings. Under a compatibility assumption, we also solve a common fixed-point problem.

Effect of NiO and/or TiO2 mullite formation and microstructure from gels

Polymeric and colloidal gels with a constant molar ratio of (Al+Ni and/or Ti)/Si=3/1 and various (Al/Ni and/or Ti) ratios (up to 21.42 mol% NiO+TiO2) were prepared and used to study the effect of the precursor chemical homogeneity on mullite formation processes and the resulting microstructure. Both kinds of gel precursors were preheated at 750°C for 3 h in order to obtain appropriate gel-derived glasses for further thermal processing. After annealing for several time periods at temperatures between 750 and 1500°C, differences in crystallization pathways were observed.
