Combining stable isotope and intestinal parasite information to evaluate dietary differences between individual ringed seals (Phoca hispida botnica)

The diet and foraging behaviour of nine individual Baltic ringed seals ( Phoca hispida botnica Gmelin, 1785) in the Bothnian Bay were studied by combining results from stable isotope analyses (δ13C and δ15N) with data on intestinal parasites whose occurrence varied among the fish hosts. The patterns of infection with three acanthocephalan parasites, Corynosoma semerme (Forssell, 1904), Corynosoma magdaleni Montreuil, 1958, and Corynosoma strumosum (Rudolphi, 1802), and with a cestode larva, Schistocephalus solidus (Müller, 1776), were examined. Fruit Quality Traits of Two Apricot Cultivars

In this trial we evaluated physical and chemical fruit quality traits and sensory profile of two late-ripening apricot cultivars ‘Vitillo’ and ‘Pellecchiella’. Fruits were harvested at full maturation in three different pickings, at 4 day intervals, to ensure the same fruit quality. To verify quality among different pickings, weight, diameter, soluble solid content, titratable acidity, pH, colour were recorded. A new fluorescence retrieval method is proposed to support ESA's 8th Earth Explorer FLuorescence EXplorer/Sentinel-3 (FLEX-S3) candidate tandem mission. FLEX is the first mission specially dedicated to measure the Sun-Induced vegetation chlorophyll fluorescence (SIF) strongly related with the vegetation photosynthetic activity. Correlation of wood-based components and dewatering properties of waste activated sludge from pulp and paper industry.

Large amounts of wet sludge are produced annually in municipal and industrial wastewater treatment. Already in pulp and paper industry, more than ten million tons of primary sludge, waste activated sludge, and de-inking sludge is generated. Waste activated sludge contains large quantities of bound water, which is difficult to dewater. Low water content would be a matter of high calorific value in incineration but it also has effects on the volume and the quality of the matter to be handled in sludge disposal. Abstract Structural changes and catalytic performances of hydrodesulfurization (HDS) Co–Mo catalysts, supported on amorphous aluminosilicate (ASA) and amorphous SiO 2 were investigated as a function of the amount of sodium ions added to the supports. Cracking Activity and Hydrothermal Stability of MCM-41 and Its Comparison with Amorphous Silica-Alumina and a USY Zeolite

It has been found that the cracking activity of MCM-41 for a reaction catalyzed by strong acids site, such asn-heptane cracking, is much lower than that of a USY zeolite, and similar to that of amorphous silica-alumina. The higher activity of USY is due to the presence of stronger Bronsted acid sites in the zeolite. In the case of gas oil cracking, the greater accessibility of the large molecules to acid sites in MCM-41 relative to USY makes the difference in activity between these two catalysts much smaller than for the pure hydrocarbon.
