Some consideration about the gender violence in two States of Eastern and Western Europe
2015
The purpose of the essay is to overcome interpretative dualism between Italian people and Serbian people about gender violence against women. In a comparative approach it will find elements of continuity between the decline of male domination in Italy and the decline of patriarchal power in Serbia as a result of a variety of historical and social causes that, inside the paper, are explained. The emancipation of women finds a block in the violence suffered by partners in some familiar contexts. La recezione della formula montalembertiana in Amari e D'Ondes Reggio
2011
The paper, whose analysis focuses on a lapse of time up to 1870, year of the death of Montalembert and Amari, highlights the influence that the French Earl had on the liberal Catholic Sicilians Amari and D'Ondes Reggio. The written contributions of the liberal Palermitans and the brief, but important, correspondence between D'Ondes Reggio and…
The Eighth Island
2014
This paper proposes a succinct analysis of the factors that have led Aeolians to leave their islands for Australia and explores how patterns of chain migration were established in the second half of the 19th century that are still active today. Over the last 150 years so many Aeolians have migrated to Australia that it has become known in the Aeolian collective consciousness as the eighth island of the Aeolian archipel…

Two Democracies Work Better Together. French and Italian decision-making processes for the Turin-Lyon railway project.
2013
The Pan-European Corridor V railway line connects Lisbon and Kiev and touches many European countries. The paper present focuses on the Turin-Lyon section where French and Italian authorities jointly work on this huge infrastructure project while applying different approaches. While there are provisions for a public debates on such issues in France, there is no similar institutional framework in Italy. While the French case evidences that public institutions can activate participation by providing “invited spaces” for collect…
