A Comparative Study of Mechanical and Microstructural Behavior for Metal Active Gas and Friction Stir Welded Micro-Alloyed Structural Steel
2022
Manufacturing tiny components into gigantic structures seems unimaginable without welding connections, whether it is for materials, parts, structures, or equipment. In the recent competitive market scenario, manufacturing industries are desperately looking for a viable alternative to fusion-based conventional material joining technologies, to improve upon cost-effectiveness along with performance. The present investigation is to evaluate the performance of structural steel thick plate joints prepared by advanced solid-state friction stir welding (FSW) over conventional metal active gas welding (MAG). The FSW experiments were carried out with different tool designs and configurations. The ou…
Residual Stress Effects on Fatigue Crack Growth in Ti-6Al-4V Friction Stir Welds
2008
Recent studies have illustrated a predominant role of the residual stress on the fatigue crack growth in friction stir welded joints. In this study, the role of the residual stress on the propagation of fatigue cracks orthogonal to the weld direction in a friction stir welded Ti-6Al-4V joint was investigated. A numerical prediction of the fatigue crack growth rate in the presence of the residual stresses was carried out using AFGROW software; reasonable correspondence between the predictions and the experimental results were observed when the effects of residual stress were included in the simulation.
Neutron Radiography Visualization of Solid Particles in Stirring Liquid Metal
2015
Abstract This paper presents the analysis of the first dynamic neutron radiography experiment that visualized motion of solid particles in liquid metal, which was stirred by a system of four counter-rotating magnets. The paper also contains the quantitative results derived from neutron images: the distribution of particle concentration, number of admixed particles and velocities as functions of the magnet rotation speed.
Quando le garanzie cedono all'ideologia: il diritto penale inquinato dalla legislazione razziale fascista
2021
Furthermore, Fascism produces deep wounds in the development of criminal law. The introduction of the racial corpus becomes a Trojan horse capable of breaching all guarantees. Clear data emerges: the persecution of the Jews takes place primarily outside the parameters of criminal law, but the normatives in defense of the lineage will actually favor racial laws. Mirroring the formal permanence system of liberal guarantees is a stance taken by many criminal lawyers who, in some cases, seem to take a different position than those imposed by the regime, but only in legal journals circulating in the academic field and without any impactful influence on political decisions. There are at least thr…
Validation of a Shear Model for RC and Hybrid Beams with Two Different Inclinations of Transversal Reinforcement
2016
The validation of an analytical model recently proposed for evaluation of the shear capacity in Reinforced Concrete (RC) beams containing multiple inclination of transverse stirrups is presented. The model is a suitable extension of that currently proposed in Eurocode 2 for the evaluation of the shear resistance, and it is derived by means of the the variable-inclination stressfield theory based on Nielsen’s plastic approach. Experimental and numerical data available in the literature on Hybrid Steel-Trussed Concrete Beams (HSTCBs) are used for model validation and result discussion. Finally, also the comparison with a different analytical approach for the assessment of the shear resistance…
Influence of Viscosity on Mass Transfer Performance of Unbaffled Stirred Vessels
2013
Unbaffled stirred tanks are seldom employed in the process industry as they are considered poorer mixers than baffled vessels. However they may be expected to provide significant advantages in a wide range of applications (e.g. crystallization, food and pharmaceutical processes, etc) where the presence of baffles is often undesirable. Moreover, in plants or animal cell cultivation bioreactors, where cell damage is often caused by bursting bubbles at the air –medium interface (Barret et al., 2010), they can provide sufficient mass transfer through the free surface vortex, so bubble formation and subsequent bursting inside the reactor can be conveniently avoided (Scargiali et al., 2012). In t…
