Introduction: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of psychological stress on orthodontic tooth movement in Wistar rats. Materials and methods: Forty-eight female ten-week old Wistar rats with an average weight of 188 ±12 gr were selected and randomly divided into two experimental and control groups. The experimental group received crowded environment-induced and cat odour stresses 4 weeks before spring insertion. In this paper an innovative numerical method named as line element-less method, LEM, for finding solution of torsion problem has been extended to all shaped sections, including sections possessing re-entrant angles at their boundary. The response solution in terms of shear stress field or Prandtl function or warping function in all domain and for any kind of domain with arbitrary contour, may be performed quickly, calculating line integrals only. Photoelastic stress analysis assisted evaluation of fracture toughness in hydrothermally aged epoxies

The present work has investigated the fracture toughness of a model DGEBA epoxy system subject to Hidro-Thermal aging. A Photoelastic Stress Analysis technique has been implemented, showing the evolution of stresses arising throughout the water uptake process due to the non-uniform swelling of the material. Gravimetric and Dynamic Mechanical Thermal Analyses have further complemented the characterization, showing the onset of plasticization effects with aging. The correlation of all previous characterizations has allowed to conclude that an increase of KIC fracture toughness is obtained at the fully saturated condition. Dihydroquercetin (DHQ) is a well-known antioxidant agent. In the present investigation, we reported for the first time that DHQ stimulates the expression of phase II detoxifying enzymes through the Nrf2-dependent signaling pathway. The IC50 values of DHQ for reduction of 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazol (DPPH), reducing power assay, lipid peroxidation assay, and xanthine oxidase inhibition were 5.96, 4.31, 2.03, and 13.24 μM, respectively. Pro-inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-1beta (IL-1beta) may participate in the pathogenesis of cartilage damage in osteoarthritis (OA) through the production of catabolic enzymes and inflammatory mediators. Induction of heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) has previously been shown to exert anti-inflammatory effects in different cell types.
