Pētījuma izlasi veido 103 respondenti vecumā no 18 līdz 84 gadiem. Pētījumā tika izmantoti trīs datu ievākšanas instrumenti: Dzīvesspēka aptauja pieaugušajiem (RSC – Resilience Scale of Adults, (Fribor, et al, 2005), kas ir adaptēta latviešu valodā (Līga Sovere, 2010), iejūtības pret sevi aptauja (SCS – Self- Compassion scale, (Neff, 2003), kas ir adaptēta latviešu valodā (Tamsone, 2015) un uztvertā stresa skala (Perceived Stress Scale Cohen, Kamarck, & Mermelsken, 1983), kas ir adaptēta latviešu valodā (Stokenberga, 2008). School-related stress among sixth-grade students : Associations with academic buoyancy and temperament

2019

The present study examined to what extent sixth-grade students' academic buoyancy and temperament contributed to their school-related stress. A total of 845 students rated their school-related stress at the beginning and end of the school year and their academic buoyancy at the beginning of the year. Parents rated students' effortful control and negative affectivity. The results showed that high academic buoyancy, high effortful control, and low negative affectivity at the beginning of the school year were related to lower school-related stress at the end of the school year, after controlling for gender, GPA, and previous level of stress. Effortful control and negative affectivity had no si…

Individual vulnerability to stress is associated with increased demand for intravenous heroin self-administration in rats

2019

AbstractOpioid use is a widespread epidemic, and traumatic stress exposure is a critical risk factor in opioid use and relapse. There is a significant gap in our understanding of how stress contributes to heroin use, and there are limited studies investigating individual differences underlying stress reactivity and subsequent stress-induced heroin self-administration. We hypothesized that greater individual vulnerability to stress would predict higher demand for heroin self-administration in a within-subjects rodent model of stress and heroin use comorbidity. Male rats were exposed to inescapable intermittent swim stress and individual biological (corticosterone) or behavioral (open field, …

Managerial career plateaue : determinants, consequences and coping strategies

2008

Masteroppgave i økonomi og administrasjon - Universitetet i Agder 2008 During last decade managers who were practicing in different industries in Sri Lanka, have struggled with having less promotional opportunities. This initially leads them to become plateaued with their career. This study applied the theory from career management literature to examine factors significantly influenced to employees’ perception of being subjectively plateaued and objectively plateaued. Additionally, this study aims to identify the relationship between career plateauing and its implication toward job satisfaction, organizational commitment, intention to quit and job induced stress. Further, coping strategies …

Occupational Well‐being among Aging Teachers in Finland

1994

Abstract This article presents an examination of occupational well‐being among teachers in Finland who are over 45‐years of age (n = 1012). Occupational well‐being was described by affective (job anxiety and depression, burnout), behavioral (job competence and aspiration) and health (psychosomatic Symptoms and work ability) components. The structure of well‐being turned out to be two‐dimensional, consisting of affect‐health and behavior dimensions. The level of well‐being among aging teachers was quite high, although 36% of the teachers had Problems of well‐being related to both ajfect‐health and behavior. However, according to the work ability index, only 4% of the 45‐49‐year‐old and 12% o…

Teachers’ Focus of Attention in First-grade Classrooms: Exploring Teachers Experiencing Less and More Stress Using Mobile Eye-tracking

2021

This study investigated teachers’ focus of attention and stress in first-grade classrooms. Teachers’ (n = 53) focus of attention was recorded in fall and spring with a mobile eye-tracking device, and the teachers reported stress via questionnaires. Correlation analysis was used to examine association between teacher stress (exhaustion, cynicism, and inadequacy) and focus of attention. Then, one teacher reporting more stress and one reporting less stress were selected for a case study to examine variations in their focus of attention. The results showed positive associations between teachers’ perceived inadequacy and overall focus of attention (whole eye-tracking recording) both in fall and …

Antioxidant effect of casein phosphopeptides compared with fruit beverages supplemented with skimmed milk against H2O2-induced oxidative stress in Ca…

2008

Abstract Casein phosphopeptides (CPPs) have been proposed as potential dietary antioxidants on designing new functional products. A fruit beverage, with/without milk, was subjected to in vitro digestion. Caco-2 cultures were preincubated with soluble fractions or isolated CPPs, the latter obtained from skimmed milk. The mitochondrial activities (MTT test), intracellular GSH and GSH-reductase activity (GSH-Rd), cell cycle analysis and RNA distribution in cycle phases were studied after inducing oxidative stress status (5 mM H2O2). MTT conversion was better preserved by soluble fractions of fruit beverages, either with or without milk. GSH concentration was equally decreased, and GSH-Rd was i…

Dental disease in a 17th–18th century German community in Jelgava, Latvia

2012

Aims: To determine the frequency and distribution of dental caries, periapical lesions, the periodontal disease, ante-mortem tooth loss and enamel hypoplasia in a high status, urban post-medieval population from the Duchy of Courland and Semigallia, and to compare these rates with those obtained from contemporary populations from urban and rural Latvian cemeteries. Materials: The sample analysed consisted of the dental remains of 108 individuals (39 male, 42 female and 27 non-adults) excavated from the Jelgava Holy Trinity Church cemetery in Latvia. A total of 1,233 teeth and 1,853 alveoli were examined. Results: The frequency of the observed conditions in this population was overall high b…

2019

The Trier Inventory for Chronic Stress (TICS), consisting of 57 items, is an instrument for measuring chronic stress in nine areas. There is also a short form (SSCS) of the TICS consisting of 12 items. However, this 12-item short form does not include all nine areas of the theoretical model and the long version. Therefore, a short version including all nine scales/areas was investigated. The TICS was taken by a sample of N = 2,473 respondents from the general population, aged 14 to 99, selected by random-route sampling. Confirmatory factor analyses applying robust maximum likelihood estimations (MLM) tested the model fit. The one-factor-model proposed by the original authors was tested, and…

Ansiedad social subclínica en adultos jóvenes sanos: cortisol y ansiedad subjetiva en respuesta a estrés agudo

2021
