CANCER SURVIVORSHIP: THE NEED FOR COMPREHENSIVE CARE AND THE IMPORTANCE OF ASSUMING AN ACTIVE ROLE
2019
Advances in the early detection and treatment of cancer have led to an increase in the number of people who have overcome the disease, reaching 5% of the current population in our country. As indicated by the Sociedad Española de Oncología Médica [Spanish Society of Medical Oncology], this situation involves new challenges that require, among other things, the identification of and attention to the quality of life and the psychosocial needs of this growing population. The objective of this article is to reflect on the importance of comprehensive, specialized, and multidisciplinary care, in which the survivor has a more active participation. However, previously, the debate on the concept of …
Validity and reliability of a pictorial scale of physical self-concept in spanish children.
2019
The pictorial scale of Physical Self-Concept in Children (P-PSC-C) is a relatively new instrument for investigating physical self-concept in childhood. The current study aims to examine the validity and reliability of the Spanish version of the P-PSC-C, and also to analyse the validity according to the children’s age. A sample of 365 primary school age (M = 9.21, SD = 1.92) students participated; divided in two groups, those aged 9 or younger and those 10-11 years old. Surveys were used to assess perceived physical concept individually. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) with diagonally weighted least square estimator specifically designed for ordinal data and a scaled test statistic was co…
Students’ physical activity intensity and sedentary behaviour by physical self-concept profiles: A latent profile analysis. [Intensidad de la activid…
2020
Abstract Aims of this study were to identify student clusters in physical appearance, sport competence, global physical self-concept and self-esteem, and to examine whether different physical self-concept groups differ in their moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) and sedentary behaviour. Participants of the study were 211 boys and 183 girls aged 13-16 years. MVPA and sedentary behaviour were monitored by GT3X accelerometers during seven days. Participants’ physical self-concept was measured by the short Physical Self-Description Questionnaire. Latent profile analyses revealed a four-cluster solution: 1) “low sport competence, moderate global physical self-concept and self-esteem, …
TEACHER’S SELF-DEVELOPMENT: TEACHER’S SELF-DISCOVERIES REGARDING THE SIGNIFICANCE OF PEDAGOGICAL PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT DURING PEDAGOGICAL PRACTICE
2019
In the 21st century, a special place in education is occupied by sustainable development issues, which emphasize the unique role of education in shaping the public opinion. New pedagogical approaches, which show how education could contribute to the evolution of consciousness, are being sought. A shift of paradigms is happening in education: from knowledge memorization to skills, character, meta-learning (Education 2030: Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development competency framework). The research confirms, to successfully implement the proposed changes in modern pedagogical practice, it is valuable for the teachers to learn the psychology methods and techniques on how to improv…
Design, Synthesis and Characterization of a Visible-Light-Sensitive Molecular Switch and Its PEGylation Towards a Self-Assembling Molecule.
2022
HBDI-like chromophores represent a novel set of biomimetic switches mimicking the fluorophore of the green fluorescent protein that are currently studied with the hope to expand the molecular switch/motor toolbox. However, until now members capable of absorbing visible light in their neutral (i. e. non-anionic) form have not been reported. In this contribution we report the preparation of an HBDI-like chromophore based on a 3-phenylbenzofulvene scaffold capable of absorbing blue light and photoisomerizing on the picosecond timescale. More specifically, we show that double-bond photoisomerization occurs in both the E-to-Z and Z-to-E directions and that these can be controlled by irradiating …
What factors relate to three profiles of perception of motor competence in young children?
2022
The study aims were to 1) examine profiles of perception of motor competence (PMC) in relation to actual motor competence (AMC), i.e. under-estimators (UEs), realistic estimators (REs) and over-estimators (OEs) and 2) investigate associations between the profiles and selected socioecological factors at the individual, family and environmental levels. PMC (Pictorial Scale of Perceived Movement Skill Competence) and AMC (Test of Gross Motor Development-Third Edition) were administered to a representative sample of children from 37 childcare centres in Finland (n=441;6.2±0.6yrs;52% boys). Socioecological factors were investigated using a parental questionnaire. The three profiles were formed b…
2019
2017
The study shows that there is a connection between machiavellism and the way of solving problem tasks in the situation when selected emotions are inducted. The results also show that people with a high level of machiavellism are characterized by stop self-control (DeBoer, B., Van Hooft, E., Bakker, A., 2011) and that induction of emotions among these people doesn’t have the same connection with the way of solving problem tasks as among people with low level of machiavellism. Additionally, the results show that people with high level of machiavellism don’t trust other people and are competitive.
