Electrochemical behaviour of poly(neutral red) on an ITO electrode

1998

Abstract The formation of a radical cation, by electrochemical oxidation of the neutral red dye in acidic aqueous solution, is controlled by diffusion towards the electrode surface. This is the initiation step of the electrogeneration, potentiostatic or potentiodynamic, of poly(neutral red) films on an indium–tin oxide (ITO) electrode. The polymeric film is a redox semi-conductor, and shows a microporous membrane-like character. Its electrochemical behaviour depends on the generation process. The hydrogen ions play a double role: first as reactants at electrochemical and acid–base equilibrium, second as counterions of the electrons. The global process of the electron-hopping is limited by t…

Time-of-flight photoemission electron microscopy – a new way to chemical surface analysis

2001

Abstract The time structure of synchrotron radiation at BESSY I (Berlin) was utilised to operate a photoemission electron microscope in the time-of-flight mode. The electrons that are emitted from the sample surface with different energies are dispersed in a drift tube subsequent to the imaging optics. Two ways of fast image detection have been explored, a fast gated intensified CCD camera (800 ps gate time) and a special counting electronics in combination with a 3D (x,y,t)-resolving delay line detector ( time resolution ps). The latter device has a lateral resolution of about 50 μm in the image plane being equivalent to 1000 pixels along the image diagonal. An energy resolution of 400 meV…

Dyes That Bear Thiazolylazo Groups as Chromogenic Chemosensors for Metal Cations

2011

A family of dyes (L 1-L 6) that contain a thiazolylazo group as signalling subunit and several macrocyclic cavities with different ring sizes and type and number of heteroatoms as binding sites has been synthesized and characterized. Solutions of L 1-L 6 in acetonitrile show broad and structureless absorption bands in the 554-577 nm range with typicalmolar absorption coefficients that range from 20000 to 32000 M -1 cm -1. A detailed protonation study was carried out with solutions of L 1, L 2 and L 5 in acetonitrile. Addition of one equivalent of protons to L 1 and L 2 resulted in the development of a new band at 425 and 370 nm, respectively, which was ascribed to protonation in the aniline…

Quality evaluation of extra-virgin olive oils from Sicilian genotypes grown in a high-density system

2019

Studying the sensory profile and chemical composition of monovarietal extra-virgin olive oils (EVOOs) is important to define and manage their quality and uniqueness. Chemical and sensory traits of olive oils from 14 minor Sicilian olive genotypes in comparison with oils from six major Sicilian and three international cultivars were analysed. Oils were extracted in 2015 from fruit of the 23 genotypes grown in an experimental orchard at a planting density of 1140 trees ha−1. Fatty acid composition, phenol composition, carotenoid content and antioxidant power were determined and analysed using univariate and multivariate procedures, in particular Nocellara Etnea along with carotenoid, phenol c…

Ion-exchange voltammetry at a surfactant-doped electrode: model of mass transfer kinetics to an anionic surface-charged electrode and its application…

2000

cited By 10; International audience; A theoretical model of mass transfer kinetics was developed for investigating the accumulation of cationic compounds at an anionic surfactant-doped screen-printed electrode. It was extended to an enzyme-generated cationic product for the indirect determination of alkaline phosphatase (AP). The model takes into account the analyte depletion, the kinetics of the ion-exchange reaction-diffusion and the kinetics of the enzymatic reaction. The relationship between the ion-exchange voltammetric anodic peak current and the enzyme incubation/accumulation time for a given concentration of AP was established and the validity of the theoretical model was verified e…

Use of Ultrasound in Reconditioning by Welding of Tools Used in the Process of Regenerating Rubber

2018

Addressing the problem of reconditioning large parts is of particular importance, due to their value and to the fact that the technologies for their reconditioning are very complex. The tools used to refine regenerated rubber which measure 660 mm in diameter and 2130 mm in length suffer from a rather fast dimensional wear. Within this research, the authors looked for a welding reconditioning procedure that would allow a very good adhesion between the deposited material layer and the base material. In this regard, the MAG (Metal Active Gas) welding process was used, but the ultrasonic activation of the welding process was also considered. Thus, the wire used for welding was activated conside…

Contributions regarding increasing reliability of beer industry installations using weld cladding in ultrasonic field

2016

Paper presents a new technology for availability increasing of different installation parts used in beer industry - ultrasonic activation of metal deposition by welding. The dilution phenomenon is studied linked on its influence upon material technological and functional properties in the three distinct zones of resulted couple (filler material, influenced thermal zone, base material). Experimental results performed on unidirectional valve are presented regarding variation of chemical composition concentration and dilution variation in three zones influenced by ultrasonic wave.

Distributed Pseudo-Gossip Algorithm and Finite-Length Computational Codes for Efficient In-Network Subspace Projection

2013

In this paper, we design a practical power-efficient algorithm for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) in order to obtain, in a distributed manner, the projection of an observed sampled spatial field on a subspace of lower dimension. This is an important problem that is motivated in various applications where there are well defined subspaces of interest (e.g., spectral maps in cognitive radios). As opposed to traditional Gossip Algorithms used for subspace projection, where separation of channel coding and computation is assumed, our algorithm combines binary finite-length Computational Coding and a novel gossip-like protocol with certain communication rules, achieving important savings in conve…
