STUDY OF NEW AUTOMOTIVE REAR SUSPENSION MECHANISM
2011
The paper presents firstly an introduction discussing: the problem’s statement emphasizing the actual problem of research of passenger car suspension to improve driving comfort and dynamic of the vehicle movement; aspects regarding the studies of car suspension mechanisms; the paper’s aims and objectives showing that a new configuration of suspension mechanism having in structure mobile frame and an actuator offering some important operational advantages is proposed. After this, the innovative concept is presented. The motions of mechanism elements and actuator and kinematic displacements are largely presented. The simulation using modern software (MSC Patran 2007, MD R2 Nastran and MSC ADA…

PROPAGAZIONE DI ONDE DI RAYLEIGH LUNGO SUPERFICI CURVE: UNO STUDIO NUMERICO E SPERIMENTALE
2014
I risultati numerici e sperime…

MULTIBODY NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE WITH APPRAISAL OF THE WEAR DAMAGE
2009
An internal combustion engine at four times (Otto cycle) and three cylinders is simulated by multibody software MSC Visual Nastran. The bearings are simulated by means of the library of constraint of the software, putting a particular attention to bench bearings and to the lubrication conditions. The loads on the bench bearings and in both the feet and head of the connecting rods, are evaluated by dynamical simulation, so that the inertia loads can be take in account, considering the condition of the maximum couple furnished by the engine. By making the necessary hypothesis, the evaluation of the wear damage is executed by Bayer theory on zero wear, obtaining that a good expectation of life…
Numerical model for the electromechanical characterization of carbon nanotubes
2010
Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) can be metallic or semiconductors depending simply on geometric characteristics [e.g., 1]. This peculiar electronic behavior, combined with high mechanical strength, make them potential building blocks of a new nano-electronic technology. Most discussions of the electronic structure of CNTs assume perfect cylindrical symmetry, but this is somewhat of an oversimplification. High resolution images of CNTs often disclose structural deformations such as bent, twisted, or collapsed tubes. These deformations may develop during growth, deposition, and processing, or upon interaction with other CNTs, and with surfaces and surface features such as electrodes. Deformations bre…

CFD simulation of gas-liquid stirred vessels
2006
Computational Fluid Dynamics is an increasingly important tool for carrying out realistic simulations of process apparatuses. As a difference from single phase systems, for multipliase systcms the development of CFD models is still at its early stages. In the present work CFD simulations of gasliquid stirred tanks are reported. All bubbles are assumed to share the same size, and a simplified approach is adopted for the description of momentum exchanges between tile two phases. In particular ir is shown that the only parameter needed for modeling drag forces is bubble terminal velocity. Results show that in a quite wide range encompassing most practical applications, bubble size has a limite…
