The sonographic appearances of urachal anomalies are illustrated by six patients with persistent urachus (n = 1), infected persistent urachus (n = 1), urachal sinus (n = 1), infected urachal cyst (n = 2) and urachal diverticulum (n = 1). The anomalies were diagnosed sonographically in every case. Symptomatic patients were treated surgically.
Mucormycosis of maxillary sinus in a newly diagnosed case of diabetes mellitus

Rhinocerebral mucormycosis is the third most common fungal infection after aspergillosis and candidiasis. The importance of mucormycosis has grown in recent years, as the number of patients has increased dramatically. Herein, we present a case of a newly diagnosed patient of diabetes mellitus having ulcerated palate and destruction of maxillary sinus evident on computed tomography scan. A biopsy report was suggestive of mucormycosis. Aggressive medical and surgical treatment was done along with the treatment of diabetes mellitus.
Quantitative assessment of regularity and synchronization of intracardiac recordings during human atrial fibrillation

This study proposes the morphology-based evaluation of the regularity (R) and the synchronization (S) of intra-atrial electrograms acquired during atrial fibrillation (AF). R is defined as the degree of repetitiveness over time of the shapes of the activation waves detected in single atrial recordings. S accounts for the simultaneous presence of morphologically similar activation waves in two atrial electrograms, and for the dispersion of the propagation delays between the two sites. Sphenoid sinus mucocele : an unusual complication of head and neck irradiation in a North African woman

Mucocele is a common benign lesion otherwise rarely located in the sphenoid sinus. Some complications after head and neck irradiation have been described in the literature until now. To our knowledge, this is the first report of a sphenoid sinus mucocele in a North African patient treated some years before with radiotherapy for a nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). We extend the literature review about this infrequent finding, of which head and neck surgeons should be aware. Refractory angina refers to long-lasting symptoms (for >3 months) due to established reversible ischaemia, which cannot be controlled by escalating medical therapy with the use of 2nd- and 3rd-line pharmacological agents, bypass grafting, or stenting. Abstract Objectives In this study, we report on the clinical maxillary manifestations of a patient affected by McCune-Albright syndrome and the implications for orthodontic therapy. Materials and methods A male, 8-year-old patient was examined at the Department of Orthodontics of the University of L’Aquila for a problem of anterior open-bite. In the clinical examination, a small swelling of the left hemi-maxilla was seen in the area corresponding to the root apex of 16 and under the tooth buds of 14 and 15. Osteosarcoma is a common primary malignant bone tumor producing osteoid or bone. It occurs very infrequently in the jaws and comprises of 4% of the tumour number as compared to the osteosarcoma of the long bones. Os- teosarcoma of the maxilla is even rarer presenting with common clinical features of pain and swelling.
