Abstract This work describes innovative niosomes, composed of diolein alone or in association with the hydrophilic penetration enhancer Labrasol ® , as carriers for cutaneous drug delivery. The model drug was tretinoin and conventional, and Labrasol ® containing liposomes was used as controls to evaluate the influence of vesicle composition and the role of Labrasol ® on vesicle physico-chemical properties and performance as skin delivery system. Spontaneous tumour regression in keratoacanthomas is driven by Wnt/retinoic acid signalling cross-talk

A fundamental goal in cancer biology is to identify the cells and signalling pathways that are keys to induce tumour regression. Here we use a spontaneously self-regressing tumour, cutaneous keratoacanthoma (KAs), to identify physiological mechanisms that drive tumour regression. By using a mouse model system that recapitulates the behaviour of human KAs, we show that self-regressing tumours shift their balance to a differentiation programme during regression. This study investigated the influence of the cross-linking agent (calcium or zinc) and the type of shell capsule used (classical or enteric capsules) on pectin beads properties and on their performance to target the colon (in vitro dissolution studies with subsequent pH change to mimic overall gastro-intestinal tract). Tissue kallikrein and kininogen in human sweat glands and psoriatic skin

The cellular localization of immunoreactive tissue kallikrein and kininogen was studied in normal and psoriatic human skin. Immunoreactivity to both enzyme and substrate was observed in secretory granules of the dark cells in the secretory fundus (acinus) of the sweat glands. Double immunostaining revealed a segmental distribution of the two antigens. Each acinar section contained either tissue kallikrein or kininogen. However, there appeared to be a junctional zone in which both were present, but in separate dark cells. The levels of various sugars (fructose, glucose, sucrose, maltose, maltulose, kojibiose, isomaltose, raffinose, erlose and melezitose) as well as the glucose/fructose and glucose/water ratios were determined in different Spanish unifloral honey types (rosemary, orange blossom, lavender, sunflower, eucalyptus, heather, honeydew). Two white wines (Chardonnay and Sauvignon blanc) and two red wines (Merlot and Syrah) were partially dealcoholized using reverse osmosis to span a range of three different alcohol contents (14% to 10%) by grape variety.
