Phase Behavior of Active Swimmers in Depletants: Molecular Dynamics and Integral Equation Theory

We study the structure and phase behavior of a binary mixture where one of the components is self-propelling in nature. The inter-particle interactions in the system were taken from the Asakura-Oosawa model, for colloid-polymer mixtures, for which the phase diagram is known. In the current model version the colloid particles were made active using the Vicsek model for self-propelling particles. The resultant active system was studied by molecular dynamics methods and integral equation theory. Both methods produce results consistent with each other and demonstrate that the Vicsek model based activity facilitates phase separation, thus broadening the coexistence region.

Uncertainty evaluation in power measurements with commercial data acquisition boards

The paper deals with the metrological characterization of a digital wattmeter developed by using a personal computer, a shunt, two commercial data acquisition boards and commercial software. The uncertainty of the active power measurements is assessed individually characterizing the voltage channel, the current channel and the phase displacement measurement between the two channels. In this paper we provide an overview of the Hints From the Crowd (HFC) project, whose main goal is to build a NoSQL database system for large collections of product reviews; the database is queried by expressing a natural language sentence; the result is a list of products ranked based on the relevance of reviews w.r.t. the natural language sentence. The best ranked products in the result list can be seen as the best hints for the user based on crowd opinions (the reviews). Reuse of software artifacts (blueprints and code) is normally associated with organising a systematic reuse framework most often constructed for a specific problem domain. In this paper we present a system (language, tool, reuse process) where software reuse is based on building and retrieving of so-called software cases (large compound artifacts) that can be reused between domains. Contemporary Web stores offer a wide range of products to e-customers. However, online sales are strongly dominated by a limited number of bestsellers whereas other, less popular or niche products are stored in inventory for a long time. Thus, they contribute to the problem of frozen capital and high inventory costs. To cope with this problem, we propose using information on product cost in a recommender system for a Web store. We discuss the proposed recommendation model, in which two criteria have been included: a predicted degree of meeting customer’s needs by a product and the product cost.
