A new method for computing one-loop integrals

1994

We present a new program package for calculating one-loop Feynman integrals, based on a new method avoiding Feynman parametrization and the contraction due to Passarino and Veltman. The package is calculating one-, two- and three-point functions both algebraically and numerically to all tensor cases. This program is written as a package for Maple. An additional Mathematica version is planned later.

oneloop 2.0 — A program package calculating one-loop integrals

1997

We present an improved version of our program package oneloop which -- written as a package for MAPLE -- solves one-loop Feynman integrals. The package is calculating one-, two- and three-point functions both algebraically and numerically to any tensor rank. In addition to the original version oneloop 2.0 also calculates infrared divergent integrals. Higher powers of propagator terms and the $O(\eps)$ parts relevant for two-loop calculations are now supported.

Extracting business information from graphs: An eye tracking experiment

2016

Information graphics are visualizations that convey information about data trends and distributions. Data visualization and the application of graphs is increasingly important in business decision making, for instance, in big data analysis. However, relatively little information exists about how people extract information from graphs and how the framing of the graphic design defines may ‘nudge’ and bias decision making. As a contribution to fill this gap, this study applies the methodology of experimental economics to the analysis of graph reading and processing to extract underlying information. Specifically, the study presents the results of an experiment whose baseline treatment includes…

A Novel Method to Characterize User Sessions of Educational Software

2013

Abstract Software applications destined for the educational environment have a long history and have evolved side by side with the progress of technology from simple computer assisted instruction programs to sophisticated eLearning platforms. A study that we have conducted on a sample of 395 children aged 6 through 12, coming from both the rural and the urban environments, shows that an increasing number of children use computer related technologies. Given their exposure to these technologies it is imperative that the educational applications be designed in a way that takes into account the children's abilities, interests and the demands for their development. We have proposed a 5-dimension…

Estimation of the Velocity of Multiple Moving Persons in Non-Stationary Indoor Environments from Received RF Signals

2019

This paper presents a new accurate iterative procedure to estimate the time-variant (TV) velocity, i.e., TV speed, TV vertical angle-of- motion (VAOM), and TV horizontal angle-of-motion (HAOM), of multiple moving objects/persons in three-dimensional (3D) non-stationary indoor propagation environments. The indoor space is assumed to be equipped with a distributed 3x3 multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system. The proposed procedure focuses on estimating the TV speed, TV VAOM, and TV HAOM by matching the spectrogram of the complex channel gain of a non- stationary indoor channel model to the spectrogram obtained from received radio frequency (RF) signals. Together with the velocity …

Oil whip-induced wear in journal bearings

2014

Published version of an article in the journal: International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s00170-014-5805-8 This paper investigates the effect of oil whirl and oil whip in fluid film radial bearings due to possible metallic contact. The degree of metallic contact and thereby wear and tear between rotating shafts and bearing bushes is assessed by measuring electric currents through the oil film. The current as well as the voltage varied in accordance with the contact ratio between the shaft and bush in the fluid film radial bearing. The gauge signal thus indicates the degree of metallic contact based on the thi…

EDA: EXAFS data-analysis software package

2021

The EXAFS data-analysis software package EDA consists of a suite of programs running under a Windows operating system environment that is designed to perform all steps of conventional EXAFS data analysis such as extraction of the XANES/EXAFS parts of the X-ray absorption coefficient, Fourier filtering and EXAFS fitting using the Gaussian and cumulant models. The package also includes two advanced approaches which allow the reconstruction of the radial distribution function (RDF) from EXAFS based on the regularization-like method and the calculation of configuration-averaged EXAFS using a set of atomic configurations obtained from molecular-dynamics or Monte Carlo simulations.---- / / / ----…

Prediction of the growth interface shape in industrial 300mm CZ Si crystal growth

2004

Abstract A model approach for a modification of the effective heat conductivity in the turbulent melt flow simulation for 28″ Si CZ crucibles is presented, which helped to overcome deficiencies in the growth interface shape prediction for industrial 300 mm Si CZ growth. The model has been incorporated into a CZ simulation tool based on the simulation software codes FEMAG for the global heat transfer and CFD-ACE for the turbulent melt flow simulation. The model predictions are compared to results from 300 mm Si CZ growth experiments with 200 kg charge weight in 28″ crucibles in a growth parameter range covered by standard industrial processes. The model is an engineering approach. Neverthele…

A penalty-based finite element interface technology

2002

Abstract An effective and robust interface element technology able to connect independently modeled finite element subdomains is presented. This method has been developed using the penalty constraints and allows coupling of finite element models whose nodes do not coincide along their common interface. Additionally, the present formulation leads to a computational approach that is very efficient and completely compatible with existing commercial software. A significant effort has been directed toward identifying those model characteristics (element geometric properties, material properties and loads) that most strongly affect the required penalty parameter, and subsequently to developing si…

Optimal placement of 3D sensors considering range and field of view

2017

This paper describes a novel approach to the problem of optimal placement of 3D sensors in a specified volume of interest. The coverage area of the sensors is modelled as a cone having limited field of view and range. The volume of interest is divided into many, smaller cubes each having a set of associated Boolean and continuous variables. The proposed method could be easily extended to handle the case where certain sub-volumes must be covered by several sensors (redundancy), for example ex-zones, regions where humans are not allowed to enter or regions where machine movement may obstruct the view of a single sensor. The optimisation problem is formulated as a Mixed-Integer Linear Program …
