Fluorescence Quenching in Hybrid Solar Cells Based on Electrodeposited ZnO

A study about fluorescence phenomena in hybrid donor-acceptor interfaces based on electrodeposited zinc oxide (e-ZnO) having different architectures is performed. In particular ITO/ZnO/P3HT and ITO/ZnO/P3HT:PCBM are investigated and their photoluminescence responses are compared with those of ITO/P3HT and ITO/P3HT:PCBM. As expected, ITO/ZnO/P3HT:PCBM and ITO/P3HT:PCBM present higher exciton quenching than ITO/ZnO/P3HT and ITO/P3HT respectively. Furthermore, the hybrid configuration ITO/ZnO/P3HT:PCBM displays a higher quenching percentage in a wider wavelength range than ITO/P3HT:PCBM, indicating a better photo-induced charge separation in e-ZnO based hybrid devices.

Many diode-based equivalent circuits for simulating the electrical behaviour of photovoltaic (PV) cells and panels are reported in the scientific literature. Two-diode equivalent circuits, which require more complex procedures to calculate the seven model parameters, are less numerous. Supernova remnants (SNRs) contribute to regulate the star formation efficiency and evolution of galaxies. As they expand into the interstellar medium (ISM), they transfer vast amounts of energy and momentum that displace, compress and heat the surrounding material. Despite the extensive work in galaxy evolution models, it remains to be observationally validated to what extent the molecular ISM is affected by the interaction with SNRs. In this article the fi rst results of the performance analysis of the photovoltaic glassblock are given. The photovoltaic glassblock is an innovative product which integrates third generation solar cells (DSSC) invented for the construction of translucent building envelopes energetically effi cient and “active” able to reduce the energy consumption in buildings and to produce at the same time green energy. The analysis was conducted on four different hypotheses of integration through numerical simulations in order to evaluate the energy absorption and the optical performance of the device. The software simulations represent a fi rst step for the understanding of the performance of the element and prelude to an experimental analysis session. The results of a research conducted about national and international patents publications on the DSSC technology and its applications will be illustrated too. The second data release of the INT Photometric Hα Survey of the Northern Galactic Plane (IPHAS DR2)

The INT/WFC Photometric H-Alpha Survey of the Northern Galactic Plane (IPHAS) is a 1800 square degrees imaging survey covering Galactic latitudes |b| < 5 deg and longitudes l = 30 to 215 deg in the r, i and H-alpha filters using the Wide Field Camera (WFC) on the 2.5-metre Isaac Newton Telescope (INT) in La Palma. We present the first quality-controlled and globally-calibrated source catalogue derived from the survey, providing single-epoch photometry for 219 million unique sources across 92% of the footprint. Intriguing Photochemistry of the Additives in the Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells

Over the years numerous mixes of chemical compounds have been tried in the electrolytes of dye-sensitized solar cells in efforts to improve their efficiency. How these chemicals interact with each other and the photoelectrode has received surprisingly little attention. Here we report results from a systematic study of two I–/I3– electrolytes and their additives using infrared and Raman spectroscopy together with quantum chemical calculations.
