Genome Sequence of Rhodococcus sp. Strain BCP1, a Biodegrader of Alkanes and Chlorinated Compounds
2013
Rhodococcus sp. strain BCP1 (DSM 44980) co-metabolizes chlorinated compounds and mineralizes a broad range of alkanes being highly tolerant to these toxic chemicals. Here, we present the high-quality draft genome sequence of strain BCP1 consisting of 6,231,823 bp, with a G+C content of 70.4%, 5,902 protein-coding genes, and 58 RNAs genes. Rhodococcus genus comprises Gram-positive, non-sporulating, aerobic bacteria that are widely distributed in the environment (1). Rhodococcus sp. strain BCP1 (formerly: Rhodococcus aetherovorans strain BCP1, DSM 44980) was selected from an aerobic butane-utilizing consortium as the prevailing isolate able to co-metabolize chloroform, vinyl chloride and tric…
Anaerobic biodegradation of solvents from the packaging industry: study and enhancement
2017
Spectroscopic and structural characterization of pure and FeCl3-containing tri-n-butyl phosphate
2014
The spectroscopic properties and liquid structure of pure tri-n-butyl phosphate (TBP) and FeCl3/TBP solutions have been investigated by Uv–Vis and Raman spectroscopies, X-ray diffraction and conductometry. Uv–Vis and Raman spectra, supported by conductometric measurements, consistently indicate that the solubilized salt is present mostly as TBP n [FeCl3 − n ] n+ and FeCl4 − complex ions due to specific interaction with the TBP phosphate group. Thanks to this interaction, a high amount of salt (up to 13 % w/w) can be dissolved despite the relatively low dielectric constant of TBP. The X-ray diffractogram of pure TBP has been interpreted in terms of three main contributions which can be attri…
Pyrene-Capped CdSe@ZnS Nanoparticles as Sensitive Flexible Oxygen Sensors in Non-Aqueous Media**
2014
A flexible, highly sensitive sensor of oxygen in non-aqueous solvents is described. It consists of CdSe/ZnS nanoparticles decorated with a considerable number of pyrene units, thus making the formation of the pyrene excimer possible. The emission of the pyrene excimer and that of the nanoparticle are suitably separated from each other and also from the excitation wavelength. This sensor can be applied as a ratiometric oxygen sensor by using the linear response of the pyrene excimer lifetime combined with the linear response of the nanoparticle excited state lifetime. This nanohybrid has been assayed in seven media with different dielectric constants and viscosities over the whole oxygen con…
