Optical properties of lithium niobate single crystals
2005
Studies of thermal and γ-irradiation effects on the optical properties in congruous lithium niobate single crystals containing Y, Mg, Gd, B, and Zn dopants including samples with double dopants Y, Mg and Gd, Mg are reported. Formation of defects at irradiation and thermal treatment of the samples is explored by electron absorption spectra. Considerable increase of absorption with the dose of γ-radiation is observed at 500 nm. The changes of absorption examined under different conditions are explained by creation and destruction of Nb 4 + defects.
Simple New Method for the Preparation of La(IO3)3 Nanoparticles
2020
We present a cost- and time-efficient method for the controlled preparation of single phase La(IO3)3 nanoparticles via a simple soft-chemical route which takes a matter of hours, thereby providing an alternative to the common hydrothermal method which takes days. Nanoparticles of pure &alpha;-La(IO3)3 and pure &delta;-La(IO3)3 were synthesised via the new method depending on the source of iodate ions, thereby demonstrating the versatility of the synthesis route. The crystal structure, nanoparticle size-dispersal and chemical composition were characterised via angle- and energy-dispersive powder X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and Fourier-transform infrared spectrosco…
<strong>QUANTITATIVE QUANTUM MECHANICAL NMR ANALYSIS: THE SUPERIOR TOOL FOR ANALYSIS OF BIOFLUIDS</strong>
2016
Almost automatic quantitative analysis of biofluids is now behind only a few clicks from sample to EXCEL table after minimal sample preparation (move 0.3 ml sample into NMR tube and add buffer), without separations, calibration and reference materials, even for unknown compounds! Each organic compound with protons gives a highly diagnostic and unique NMR spectrum which is practically identical with any spectrometer operating at certain field. A distinctive feature of high-resolution 1D NMR spectra is that even the most complex spectrum of a compound can be described by a few spectral parameters within experimental accuracy, employing a quantum mechanical theory. The NMR spectral parameters…
Electrochemical behaviour of inorganic redox substances dispersed into Nafion® films
1999
Abstract The voltammetric response of a Nafion ® film deposited on an indium tin oxide (ITO) electrode was studied. It was observed that the response is affected by the thickness of the Nafion ® layer. Also, the voltammograms show differences depending on the concentration and composition of the supporting electrolyte solution. The ITO–Nafion ® system can be stabilised by repetitive cyclic voltammetry, and then the inner hydrogen reduction is not detected by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Different substances were dispersed into the Nafion ® matrix in order to study their electrochemical response.

2015
The synthesis, optoelectronic properties and near-infrared electroluminescent heterojunctions of a twisted and soluble 7,8,15,16,23,24-hexaazatrianthrylene derivative are reported.
Atomic Force Microscopy: Interaction Forces Measured in Phospholipid Monolayers, Bilayers, and Cell Membranes
2009
Atomic force microscopy (AFM) is a powerful technique which is commonly used to image surfaces at the nanoscale and single-molecule level, as well as to investigate physical properties of the sample surface using a technique known as force spectroscopy. In this chapter, we review our recent research where we used AFM to investigate physical properties of phospholipid monolayers, bilayers, and cell membranes. We describe the experimental procedures for AFM imaging, force measurements, and theoretical models to analyze force spectroscopy data. The data obtained allowed correlations between AFM topography and local adhesion and mechanoelastic properties of supported lipid bilayers in water, su…

The structure of 1-azabicyclo[4.2.0]octane (1) was evaluated by NMR spectroscopy. It was found that the six-membered ring has a chair conformation with the four membered ring in the N-axial and C-6-equatorial position, and as a consequence, the monomer allows neither a ring inversion nor a nitrogen inversion. It possesses two centers of chirality, one at the nitrogen atom and one at C-6. Homopolymerization was carried out in methanol at 60°C with N-alkyl ammonium salts of 1 affording the polymer in high yield within a few hours. Its NMR spectra reveal that the polymer chain is preferably arranged in the biequatorial position of the six-membered ring. As a polybase the polymer can be titrate…
Regioselective Synthesis of 2-Imino-1,3-thiazolidin-4-ones by Treatment ofN-(Anthracen-9-yl)-N′-ethylthiourea with Bromoacetic Acid Derivatives
2002
The reaction between N-(anthracen-9-yl)-N′-ethylthiourea (1) and methyl bromoacetate yielded mainly 2-[(anthracen-9-yl)imino]-3-ethyl-1,3-thiazolidin-4-one (2), together with some of the regioisomeric 3-(anthracen-9-yl)-2-ethylimino-1,3-thiazolidin-4-one (3). The structures of the products were elucidated by NMR techniques and, for 3, X-ray crystallographic analysis. Treatment of 1 with bromoacetyl bromide again yielded 2 and 3, but with a reversed product distribution ratio, thus providing an interesting and unexpected regioselectivity, depending on the electrophile selected. The underlying cause of the observed regioselectivity is a result of different reaction pathways taken by the two e…
13C nuclear magnetic resonance spectra of several podocarpane and cassane diterpenoids
1990
The 13C NMR spectra of several diterpenic derivatives having the podocarpane and cassane skeleton were recorded and interpreted. The most significant effects due to substituent orientation, B/C ring junction stereochemistry and conformational changes are briefly discussed.
Antidiabetische wirkstoffe. V Lang- und verzweigtkettig substituierte chlor-dihexylamino-1,3,5-triazine
1985
The nucleophilic substitution of one chlorine atom in 2,4-dichloro-6-dihexylamino-1,3,5-triazine (1) by amines 2a-c leads to the alkylamino-chlorodihexylamino-1,3,5-triazin…
