Psychometric properties of the Norwegian version of the Kidscreen-27 questionnaire

Background The Norwegian version of the Kidscreen-27, a measure of generic health-related quality of life, has not yet been validated. Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate the reliability and validity of the Norwegian Kidscreen-27, in 10 year-old children. Methods The Kidscreen-27 consists of five domains and was validated in a cross-sectional study of 1085 school children (52.5 % boys). In addition a subsample of 56 children also had repeated measures in order to study test-retest reliability. The search for phylogenetic signal in morphological traits using geometric morphometrics represents a powerful approach to estimate the relative weights of convergence and shared evolutionary history in shaping organismal form. We assessed phylogenetic signal in the form of ventral and dorsal haptoral anchors of 14 species of Ligophorus occurring on grey mullets (Osteichthyes: Mugilidae) from the Mediterranean, the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. Wetting properties at the surface of iota-carrageenan-based edible films

International audience; Surface properties of edible films composed of a polymeric matrix of carrageenan in association with hydrophobic material were studied by contact angle measurements. The use of this technique not only in a static mode but also in a dynamic way enables investigation of surface hydrophobicity as well as surface wettability. The absorption flux inside the material can be estimated from the wetting kinetic, which can be very useful to quickly compare water barrier efficiency of the tested films. Pressure inactivation kinetics of Enterobacter sakazakii in infant formula milk

Survival curves of Enterobacter sakazakii inactivated by high hydrostatic pressure were obtained at four pressure levels (250, 300, 350, and 400 MPa), at temperatures below 30 degrees C, in buffered peptone water (BPW; 0.3%, wt/vol) and infant formula milk (IFM; 16%, wt/vol). A linear model and four nonlinear models (Weibull, log-logistic, modified Gompertz, and Baranyi) were fitted to the data, and the performances of the models were compared. The linear regression model for the survival curves in BPW and IFM at 250 MPa has fitted regression coefficient (R2) values of 0.940 to 0.700, respectively, and root mean square errors (RMSEs) of 0.770 to 0.370. Failure mode, effects and criticality analysis (FMECA) is a safety technique extensively used in many different industrial fields to identify and prevent potential failures. In the application of traditional FMECA, the risk priority number (RPN) is determined to rank the failure modes; however, the method has been criticised for having several weaknesses. Modelling patterns of the spatial incidence of diseases using local environmental factors has been a growing problem in the last few years. Testing for goodness rather than lack of fit of an X–chromosomal SNP to the Hardy-Weinberg model

The problem of checking the genotype distribution obtained for some diallelic marker for compatibility with the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (HWE) condition arises also for loci on the X chromosome. The possible genotypes depend on the sex of the individual in this case: for females, the genotype distribution is trinomial, as in the case of an autosomal locus, whereas a binomial proportion is observed for males.
