Does firm’s network position enhance open innovation performance? Evidences from the biopharmaceutical industry

This paper explores the relationship between open innovation (OI) and firm's network position on enhancing firm's innovation performance, such as new product development (NPD). We build a theoretical framework and test it on the biopharmaceutical context. Our result shows how firm's network position influences NPD performance obtained through OI practices.

Diversification and performance in the mobile app market: The role of the platform ecosystem

Abstract We examine the effect of app developers' product line diversification decision on their performance and shed light on whether the type of platform ecosystem (open versus closed) where they commercialize apps influences this effect. We compare the revenue performance of diversified and specialized developers in Apple's App Store and Google Play. We show that in the Apple's App Store (closed platform) diversified developers always display lower performance than their specialized counterparts. However, both the literature and empirical evidence have shown the perils hidden in superficial decision making by SME entrepreneurs. Base-isolated structure equipped with tuned liquid column damper: An experimental study

Abstract In this study, a novel passive vibration control strategy is investigated experimentally, where a Tuned Liquid Column Damper protects a base-isolated structure. The Tuned Liquid Column Damper is attached to the base, in contrast to typical attachment points of passive energy dissipation devices in high-rise buildings at elevated levels. Approaches the shakedown optimal design of reinforced concrete (RC) structures, subjected to variable and repeated external quasi‐static actions which may generate the well‐known shakedown or adaptation phenomenon, when constraints are imposed on deflection and/or deformation parameters, in order to simulate the limited flexural ductility of the material, in the presence of combined axial stress and bending.
