Gli allagamenti in aree urbane si verificano con una certa frequenza anche in seguito ad eventi di precipitazione meno severi (intensi) dell’evento di progetto con cui sono state dimensionate le reti di fognatura. Le caditoie sono, in questi casi, i nodi critici: l’efficienza del drenaggio superficiale è assicurata solo quando la loro progettazione, posizionamento e manutenzione è effettuata a regola d’arte. Treatment of de novo femoro-popliteal lesions with a new Drug Coated Balloon: early experience of a single Center in the first 50 patients

Angioplasty with drug-coated balloon (DCB) is an emerging and reliable method for the treatment of femoro-popliteal lesions. We report our experience with the Stellarex™ DCB in the first 50 patients. Methods - From July 2015 to November 2017, 50 patients (41 M, 9F), medium age (64 ± 7.4 year) were subject to 33 angioplasties (PTAs) for femoro-popliteal lesions with a paclitaxel-coated balloon (Stellarex™). This paper reports the investigation carried out on the occurrence of Cryptosporidium and Giardia (oo)cysts in water samples of two municipal treatment plants, and in surface water and ground water wells of the province of Palermo. The wastewater samples taken before and after treatment process were assayed over the course of one year Giardia cysts were detected in all samples throught the year at higher concentration levels than Cryptosporidium oocysts, with a peak observed in spring. The overall removal efficiency of (oo)cysts in the treatment plants was about of 90%. A phase I-II study on intravesical Gemcitabine in superficial bladder papillary tumors

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVE: The possible role of gemcitabine inintravesical therapy of superficial transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder (TCCB) has been suggested. The European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Urological Group validated the use of papillary marker lesion left in the bladder after TUR as the best tool to measure the efficacy of a drug by intravesical route against TCCB. The rsults on 27 patients are herein presented. METHODS: Twenty-seven patients, with recurrent superficial TCCB (Ta-T1, G1-G2), were treated with intravesical gemcitabine for 1 to 3 papillary marker lesions (5-15 mm) left unreseacted after TUR.
