Background The goal of the current study is to assess the difference in connective tissue adherence to laser microtextured versus machined titanium abutments. Material and Methods Six patients were selected and each of them received 2 implants, one combined with a laser treated abutment and one with a machined abutment. After three months, the abutments were retrieved together with their surrounding gingival tissue for histological analysis. We performed a randomized controlled trial comparing telemedical versus conventional clinic follow-up in terms of feasibility and quality.Patients discharged from pediatric surgery were randomized to telemedical or onsite follow-up. In the telemedical group, video telephony was used to obtain interim history and physical findings. Onsite patients were personally seen in the outpatient clinic. Caregivers completed a postvisit survey on satisfaction and efficiency. A total of 22 patients with extensive chronic sinusitis were examined before and 7.2 ± 1.1 months after microscopic endonasal sinus surgery. Pre- and postoperative nasal mucociliary transport was measured using a modified saccharine test and ciliary beat frequency of nasal respiratory cells using video interference contrast microscopy. In patients suffering from chronic sinusitis, nasal ciliary beat frequency was significantly lower (8.0 ± 1.8 Hz) than in normals (9.5 ± 1.7 Hz, p < 0.02). To determine the frequency and characteristics of the CIDP variants, their possible evolution to typical CIDP, and treatment response.MethodsWe applied a set of diagnostic criteria to 460 patients included in a database of Italian patients with CIDP.
