ARCHITETTURA E FOTOVOLTAICO: STRATEGIE E CRITERI D’INTEGRAZIONE. ARCHITECTURE AND PHOTOVOLTAICS: STRATEGIES AND INTEGRATION CRITERIA
2016
Transparent and sustainable materials
2013
The search for greater transparency in buildings characterizes the current architectural scenario: the use of glass is more and more common in both the design of new buildings and for renovation. However, the design of the transparent part of the building envelope is critical to the achievement of efficiency and sustainability. There are several research companies that aim to improve the energy performance especially of the glass. Today there is a wide range of products capable of providing different solutions, depending on the aesthetic and technical requirements of the structure in question. The aim of this article is to provide a clear overview of the possibilities of the transparent mat…

Right to the future
2019
Gamification or Game Design? A case study in the field of sustainable commuting
2022
In the last few years, the debate among designers and sustainability experts has brought attention to many different behavioural change approaches and techniques and particularly on “gamification” processes able to better motivate and engage students or even nudge people (consumers) to more environmentally and socially responsible habits (Mousumi, 2021).But since 2011, most of the contradictions about “gamifying” boring or unpleasant experiences have been loudly shared by game designers and thinkers worldwide (Bogost, 2014). It seems that the goal of changing people’s unsustainable behaviours can be achieved by designing brand new sustainable experiences instead of gamifying the unsustainab…
Palermo, ZEN District. An occasion of urban re-qualifying
2012
Among the changes made to the original scheme proposed by Amoroso Group, were some that showed the willingness to accommodate the constraints established by the local council and were designed primarily to protect certain pre-existing historical sites in the area. Consequently, the gridded, dense neighbourhood Zen 2 had to be opened in certain parts. Thereupon on the South-East quarter the "0D" insula, the citrus grove, the historical outskirts and the school in Trapani Pescia Street detect an emblematic fragment, useful to understand the contradictions that exist in this district, where heterogeneous elements form self and distinct parts. The design of new residences in this area is an occ…

THE CHALLENGES OF SUSTAINABLE HISTORICAL CENTERS: THE CASE OF ROSETTE, EGYPT
2011
Historical centers of many Egyptian cities managed to survive as living cities in spite of physical decline and economic depression. Their fabric carries out the spiritual and cultural messages that communicate with their present citizens. The heritage of these historic city centers are not only Material character, but much more. Generally, the conservation of historic centers is fundamentally different from conservation of single monument. While a single monument can be kept on a chosen state of evolution, the historic centers cannot be preserved in particular state “with exception of the small areas conserved for tourist purposes”. The historic centers, as living cities must meet the vary…
