The social basis of a teaching profession is created through behavioural and cultural patterns, specific artefacts, and their connection to certain institutional practices. The purpose of this study is to discover the conditions that structure the teaching profession in a cultural context and to find out what it is to be a foreign language (FL) teacher in Finland and Japan. Se analizan las competencias de pensamiento histórico de estudiantes españoles de bachillerato y del Máster de Profesorado, y sus narrativas sobre historia de España. Se utilizan métodos cualitativos para identificar: a) su pensamiento histórico, que comprende conocimientos sustantivos y uso de metaconceptos; b) en cuanto a sus narrativas, la gradación cognitiva (taxonomía SOLO) y el sujeto narrativo utilizado. Studies show that changes in teacher education around the world occur slowly and are difficult to implement. This study aims to contribute to the discussion on the major resources for and obstacles to developing teacher education and finding novel solutions to overcome the obstacles. Resources and obstacles were investigated in the context of academic and university-based teacher education in Finland. Abstract In this paper, we will present some important aspects regarding the design and implementation of a project which generates significant results in the life-long learning of the teachers from all levels of the Romanian education system. The project is part of the priority axis: “The development of human resources in education and professional training”. The general objective aims to improve the e-learning interactive methods and the activity with the disabled in order to use them also within the didactic activity, to improve the results of the educational process as well as to increase the disabled access to education.

This paper presents a case study of an intensive international course aimed at pre-service teachers and having a focus on inclusion. The course was funded by Nordplus. Twenty-three students from six Baltic and Nordic countries were interviewed during and after the course on their views on professionalism and their future work as teachers. The results show that the students’ understanding of professionalism was multifaceted, and they had gained several experiences of professionalism during the course. Initial French language teacher education policy in Greece and curriculum evaluation among student teachers of FLE

This paper presents initial language teacher education policy adopted in Greece and describes a study which examines student teachers’ of FLE (Français Langue Étrangère) perception of their initial teacher education and its contribution to their future professional life. The sample comprised 67 student teachers in their fourth year of studies for a bachelor degree in the department of French language and literature in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece.
