Vertical preparation for fixed prosthesis rehabilitation in the anterior sector
2015
This clinical report describes a biologically oriented preparation technique (BOPT) for teeth and an implant for the esthetic rehabilitation of the maxillary anterior sector. The technique was designed to create an anatomic crown with a prosthetic emergence profile that simulated the shape of the natural tooth.
Morphological observations on the co-occurring geophytes Isoetes duriei Bory (Lycophyta, Isoetaceae) and Romulea columnae Sebast. et Mauri (Anthophyt…
2003
Some preliminary observations on the morphoplogy and leaf anatomy of two geophytes, Isoetes duriei and Romulea columnae, co-occurring in a Mediterranean temporary pond, have been reported. The species examined possess characters favourable to the survival of both flooded and arid conditions. The adaptive traits to flooding appear plastic in R. columnae, while I. duriei is “structurally” an aquatic plant. Evolutionary and ecological aspects are briefly discussed.

First record of the tadpole shrimp triops cancriformis (Branchiopoda, Notostraca) in Cyprus
2014
The presence of the large branchiopod Triops cancriformis (Bosc, 1801-1802) in Cyprus is reported for the first time. Triops cancriformis individuals were observed in the large temporary wetland of Paralimni Lake (Famagusta District, Cyprus) during the wet periods of 2013 and 2014. This finding extends the current knowledge of the species distribution in the eastern Mediterranean area, and stresses the ecological and conservation value of the unique habitat of Paralimni Lake. In addition, it highlights the need for carrying on further studies on the fauna of temporary pond habitats in Cyprus, and for better conservation management strategies for such EU priority habitats.
Natural emotion: progetti di itinerari naturalistici e nuovi accessi al patrimonio archeologico di Tindari
2019
The exceptional orographic and natural conditions, together with the cultural and patrimonial ones, of our territory have become the landscape of relations between the spaces where silence, slowdown and acceleration define the urban and human imagination of the territories of the very different minor centers among them by topographical location, by cultural and linguistic traditions and specificities. What future for the smaller centers? This is one of the questions of the contribution that it intends to face closely the role of the architectural project in the fragile territory of the minor centers where it is possible to find the constants in the critical issues of the participants that c…
Diversity of Lactobacillus species in deep carious lesions of primary molars
2010
AIM: This was to determine the prevalence of Lactobacilli (LB) species in different stages of caries progression and are considered as secondary invaders of existing carious lesions and specialists for caries progression. METHODS: Carious dentine samples were collected from 70 primary molars (M) during step-wise (S1, S2: n = 35 M) or one-step (O1: n = 35 M) caries treatment and after 11 months of temporary restorations (S3, O2). LB were identified by selected physiological and biochemical characteristics, ratio of lactic acid isomers, electrophoretic mobilities of lactic acid dehydrogenases, and shotgun mass mapping by MALDI mass spectrometry. RESULTS: LB were isolated from 46% of soft dent…
Flexible Wage Contracts, Temporary Jobs, and Firm Performance: Evidence From Italian Firms
2013
This study focuses on the effects of decentralized wage schemes and temporary forms of employment on firm performance. The effect of monetary incentives on workers' effort and firm performance is a central topic in economics. According to the principal-agent paradigm, firms (the principal) have to link employees' remuneration schemes to any verifiable indicator of performance to avoid opportunistic behavior. The empirical evidence shows that financial incentives have the potential to exert strong effects on indicators of firm performance, such as productivity and worker absenteeism, although the degree of effectiveness of such schemes varies significantly according to the institutional/econ…
