Range image binarization: applications to wooden stamps analysis

This paper deals with the analysis of ancient wooden stamps. The aim is to extract a binary image from the stamp. This image must be the closer to the image produced by inking and using a printing press with the stamps. A range image based method is proposed to extract a stamped image from the stamps. The range image acquisition from a 3D laser scanner is presented. Pre-filtering for range image enhancement is detailed. The range image binarization method is based on an adaptive thresholding. The aim of this study was to enable a quantitative comparison of initial soil erosion processes in European vineyards using the same methodology and equipment. The study was conducted in four viticultural areas with different characteristics (Valencia and Málaga in Spain, Ruwer-Mosel valley and Saar-Mosel valley in Germany). Degradation of long-chain n-alkanes in soil microcosms by two actinobacteria

The ability of two recently isolated actinobacteria, that degrade medium and long chain n-alkanes in laboratory water medium, was investigated in soil microcosms using different standard soils that were artificially contaminated with n-alkanes of different length (C(12)- C(20)- C(24)- C(30)). The two strains, identified as Nocardia sp. SoB and Gordonia sp. SoCp, revealed a similar high HC degradation efficiency with an average of 75% alkane degraded after 28 days incubation. Soil Moisture Effect on Thermal Infrared (8–13-μm) Emissivity

Thermal infrared (TIR) emissivities of soils with different textures were measured for several soil moisture (SM) contents under controlled conditions using the Box method and a high-precision multichannel TIR radiometer. The results showed a common increase of emissivity with SM at water contents lower than the field capacity. However, this dependence is negligible for higher water contents. Abstract Equilibrium and disequilibrium degassing of a volatile phase from a magma of K-phonolitic composition was investigated to assess its behavior upon ascent. Decompression experiments were conducted in Ar-pressurized externally heated pressure vessels at superliquidus temperature (1050 °C), in the pressure range 10–200 MPa using pure water as fluid phase. All experiments were equilibrated at 200 MPa and then decompressed to lower pressures with rates varying from 0.0028 to 4.8 MPa/s.
