Multiplicities of negatively charged pions from semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering of muons off an isoscalar target, $M^{\pi^{-}}$, in bins of $x$, $y$, and $z$. Also given are the diffractive vector meson correction to the pion count, $DVM^{\pi^{-}}$, and DIS count, $DVM^{DIS}$, as well as the radiative correction factors to the pion count, $\eta^{\pi^{-}}$, and DIS count, $\eta^{DIS}$. The correction factors were applied to the raw multiplicity to arrive at the final multiplicity given in the table, $M^{\pi^{-}}$, as follows: $M^{\pi^{-}}$ = $M_{raw}^{\pi^{-}}$ * $\frac{\eta^{\pi^{-}}} {\eta^{DIS}}$ * $\frac{ DVM^{\pi^{-}} } {DVM^{DIS} }$.

Superconducting size effect in thin films under electric field: Mean-field self-consistent model

We consider effects of an externally applied electrostatic field on superconductivity, self-consistently within a BCS mean field model, for a clean 3D metal thin film. The electrostatic change in superconducting condensation energy scales as $\mu^{-1}$ close to subband edges as a function of the Fermi energy $\mu$, and follows 3D scaling $\mu^{-2}$ away from them. We discuss nonlinearities beyond gate effect, and contrast results to recent experiments.

Resumen: El punto de partida de este articulo es una foto de Julio Lopez, ex detenido-desaparecido de la pasada dictadura argentina y vuelto a desaparecer en 2006 tras dar testimonio en el juicio que condeno al represor Miguel Etchecolatz a prision perpetua. Una foto de Lopez ya vista sera ahora reinsertada en otro contexto, duplicada para ser dada nuevamente a la mirada. Desde ella se desplegaran las singularidades de algunas otros artefactos visuales entendidos como memorias fotograficas de la historia reciente argentina ligada a la pasada dictadura. Vibrational circular dichroism (VCD) is a spectroscopic technique used to resolve the absolute configuration of chiral systems. Obtaining a theoretical VCD spectrum requires computing atomic polar and axial tensors on top of the computationally demanding construction of the force constant matrix. In this study we evaluated a VCD model in which all necessary quantities are obtained with density functional based tight binding (DFTB) theory. The analyzed DFTB parametrizations fail at providing accurate vibrational frequencies and electric dipole gradients but yield reasonable normal modes at a fraction of the computational cost of density functional theory (DFT).
