Full- and reduced-order filter design for discrete-time T-S fuzzy systems with time-varying delay

This paper is focused on the problem of ℋ ∞ filtering for a class of discrete-time T-S fuzzy time-varying delay systems. Our interest is how to design full- and reduced-order filters that guarantee the filtering error system to be asymptotically stable with a prescribed ℋ ∞ performance. Sufficient conditions for the obtained filtering error system are proposed by applying an input-output approach and a two-term approximation method, which is employed to approximate the time-varying delay. The corresponding full and reduced-order filter design is cast into a convex optimization problem, which can be efficiently solved by standard numerical algorithms.

Pigeon pea is an important and multiuse grain legume crop, and its leaves are a very valuable natural resource. To obtain a high-quality biological resource, it is necessary to choose the excellent cultivar and determine the appropriate harvest time. In this study, the variation in contents of main active components and antioxidant activity in leaves of six pigeon pea cultivars during growth were investigated. The level of each individual active component significantly varied during growth, but with a different pattern, and this variation was different among cultivars. Abstract The optimisation of the experimental conditions in gradient reversed-phase liquid chromatography requires reliable algorithms for the description of the retention and peak profile. As in isocratic elution, the linear relationship between the logarithm of the retention factor and the solvent contents is only acceptable in relatively small concentration ranges of modifier. Comparative study of laboratory-scale thermophilic and mesophilic activated sludge processes.

Laboratory-scale mesophilic (20-35 degrees C) and thermophilic (55 degrees C) activated sludge processes (ASPs) treating diluted molasses wastewater were compared in effluent quality, removal of different COD fractions, sludge yield, floc size, and sludge settleability. The effect of polyaluminium chloride (PAC) with high cationic charge on sludge settleability and effluent quality was also studied. In the ASPs, the hydraulic retention time was 12h in both processes, corresponding to a volumetric loading rate of 3.2+/-1.0 kg COD(filt) m(-3)d(-1). Quantum Nekhoroshev Theorem for Quasi-Periodic Floquet Hamiltonians

A quantum version of Nekhoroshev estimates for Floquet Hamiltonians associated to quasi-periodic time dependent perturbations is developped. If the unperturbed energy operator has a discrete spectrum and under finite Diophantine conditions, an effective Floquet Hamiltonian with pure point spectrum is constructed. For analytic perturbations, the effective time evolution remains close to the original Floquet evolution up to exponentially long times. We also treat the case of differentiable perturbations.

We investigate the phenomenon of coherent destruction of tunneling in a six-dimensional model of the NHD2 molecule. Two regimes are considered for the frequency of the laser field. A non-resonant regime where the frequency of the laser field is high with respect to the ground vibrational state tunneling splitting but smaller than the transition frequencies between the ground and excited vibrational states; and a quasi-resonant regime where the frequency of the laser field is close to the transition frequency between the ground and first excited vibrational states. Optimization of Long-Run Average-Flow Cost in Networks With Time-Varying Unknown Demand

We consider continuous-time robust network flows with capacity constraints and unknown but bounded time-varying demand. The problem of interest is to design a control strategy off-line with no knowledge of the demand realization. Such a control strategy regulates the flow on-line as a function of the realized demand. We address both the case of systems without and with buffers. The main novelty in this work is that we consider a convex cost which is a function of the long-run average-flow and average-demand. The analysis of nearly continuous records of surface-based atmospheric condensation nucleiconcentration (CNC) since 1984 up to the present at the Georg von Neumayer-Station (GvN) shows clearly: u - an annual cycle of CNC with low values in winter time; - a significantly increasing frequency of CNC of more than 1000 particles per cm3 over the years.
