Strength of pre-Roman amphorae: Comparison of the different types

2015

Abstract Given that amphorae were used for storage or for long and/or short distance transport, they must have been able to retain their content and, at the same time, be able to resist important load during transport. This paper concerns aspects of the techno-functionality of pre-Roman Iberian amphorae. The basic performance requirement concerned here is the mechanical strength (transverse rupture strength: TRS). Strength is related to the adequacy for storage or short and/or long distance transport that, up to now, is only assessed by typological identification or archaeological evidence. Experimental implementation on actual archaeological material has confirmed that strength increased w…

Las ánforas de Brindisi en Hispania Citerior. Pautas de distribución y consumo

2017

Late Republican Amphora Trade in Malaca: Imports from Beatas Street at the Corner of Ramón Franquelo (Málaga, Spain)

2018

Domestic Policies in Self-Enforcing Trade Agreements

2012

If all cross-country externalities travel through the terms-of-trade, efficient trade agreements target the terms-of-trade but ignore domestic policies. This argument has been advanced by prominent studies on trade agreements. The present paper shows that its logic fails if production possibilities are intertemporally linked -- for example, under dynamic factor accumulation. In this case, past policies shape current production possibilities and thus affect defection temptations. Therefore, self-enforcing trade agreements that leave the choice of domestic policies to individual countries risk that countries abandon the zone of voluntarily cooperation while optimizing their policies.

2021

In according of CEDU in Italy trade union freedom is a right also recognized to members of the Armed Forces, but subject to limitations due to the functional aspect of the tasks institutional attributed. The peculiarity of the military organization reverberates in working relationships e gives trade union activity a special characterization with respect to the framework of trade union rights common. From the point of view of the specialty, the question of the preventive ministerial scrutiny of the legitimacy to carry out this activity which, according to the Council of State, stands out for a high degree of discretion. This statement leads us to believe that the establishment of an associat…

L’art.

Art. 28 of the Workers' Statute went through a fifty-year history of the Italian trade union conflict. This remedy is still topical and requires some maintenance in the light of the changes of labour law. Determinants and efficiency of Pakistan's chemical products' exports: An application of stochastic frontier gravity model.

2019

The estimation of efficiency of industry-specific exports is very important to find exports' gap and to frame exports promotion policy for targeted industry. This study attempts to investigate the main determinants of chemical products' exports of Pakistan with 62 trading partners by applying Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA) on an augmented gravity model for a period 1995-2015. The results corroborate that chemical products' exports follow gravity patterns. This study finds a negative and significant impact of import tariff on exports of chemical products while the positive impact of devaluation has been observed. Further, the estimations also take into account the impact of Preferential …

Fiscal Adjustment and Business Cycle Synchronization

2013

Using a panel of annual data for 20 countries we show that synchronized fiscal consolidation (stimulus) programmes in different countries make their business cycles more closely linked, especially in the case of fiscal adjustments lasting 2 or 3 years. We also find: (i) little evidence of decoupling when an inflation targeting regime is unilaterally adopted; (ii) an increase in business cycle synchronization when countries fix their exchange rates and become members of a monetary union; (iii) a positive effect of bilateral trade on the synchronization of business cycles.

Is the Border Effect an Artefact of Geographical Aggregation?

2011

The existence of a large border effect is considered as one of the main puzzles of international macroeconomics. We show that the border effect is, to a large extent, an artefact of geographic concentration. In order to do so we combine international flows with intra-national flows data characterised by a high geographic grid. At this fine grid, intra-national flows are highly localised and dropping sharply with distance. The use of a small geographical unit of reference to measure intra-national bilateral trade flows allows to estimating correctly the negative impact of distance on shipments. When we use sector disaggregated export flows of 50 Spanish provinces in years 2000 and 2005 split…
