Contribution à l'étude de la formation des images optiques en microscopie champ proche optique: effet de la sonde en deux dimensions

2004

This work consists in the development of a theoretical tool for the purpose to undertake numerical simulations able to take into account the coupling between the probe and the object. The first part, concerns the combination of the differential method and the algorithms T and S, to overcome numerical problems which appear in the cases where the size of system (probe - object) is more realistic. The developed global model is two-dimensional and applied in polarization TE under the normal diffraction condition. We have used the developed model to study the formation of optical image by monomodes and multimodes probes. The obtained optical images at constant height, have allowed us to study th…

Excitation of plasmonic nanoantennas by nonresonant and resonant electron tunnelling.

2016

A rigorous theory of photon emission accompanied inelastic tunnelling inside the gap of plasmonic nanoantennas has been developed. The disappointingly low efficiency of the electrical excitation of surface plasmon polaritons in these structures can be increased by orders of magnitude when a resonant tunnelling structure is incorporated inside the gap. Resonant tunnelling assisted surface plasmon emitter may become a key element in future electrically-driven nanoplasmonic circuits.

Subglacial depositional models and tunnel valley infill : example in the Quaternary record (Bray, Ireland) and application to the Upper Ordovicien re…

2012

The icehouse period during the lower Palaeozoic led to the development of large continental ice-sheet over the Gondwana. This ice-sheet fluctuated in size and repeatedly recovered the north-Gondwana platform. The resulting glacial record includes major erosional surfaces of regional extent, with subglacial landforms and morphologies, as well as glacial valleys and specific glaciogenic sedimentary record. Among these valleys, tunnel valleys refer to Quaternary analogues, associated with the development of ice-sheets over Europe and North-America. Tunnel valley defines elongated, linear to slightly sinuous depressions, measuring few kilometers in width and several kilometres in length. They s…

Ozone therapy in idiopathic carpal tunnel syndrome. Biochemical, neurophysiological and clinical aspects

2018

Purpose.
Idiopathic Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is the most common entrapment neuropathy; however few and only retrospective studies have been found in search engines about Ozone Therapy.
The aim of this paper was to evaluate clinical and neurophysiological outcome following Ozone Therapy in CTS.
We focused the attention on the evidences concerning the role of Subsynovial Connective Tissue (SSCT) in the pathogenesis of CTS and the ozone pre-conditioning effects linked to pain and inflammatory pathways and to fibrosis induced by Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury.

 Materials and methods.
Thirty-five patients, aged between 21 and 80, were stratified clinically b…

Exploring the anticancer activity and the mechanism of action of pyrrolomycins F obtained by microwave-assisted total synthesis

2023

Pyrrolomycins (PMs) are a family of naturally occurring antibiotic agents, isolated from the fermentation broth of Actinosporangium and Streptomyces species. Pursuing our studies on pyrrolomycins, we performed the total synthesis of the F-series pyrrolomycins (1–4) by microwave-assisted synthesis (MAOS), thus obtaining the title compounds in excellent yields (63–69%). Considering that there is no evidence so far of the anticancer effect of this class of compounds, we investigated PMs for their antiproliferative activity against HCT116 and MCF-7 cancer cell lines. PMs showed anticancer activity at submicromolar level with a minimal effect on normal epithelial cell line (hTERT RPE-1), and the…

Signatures of topological phase transitions in Josephson current-phase discontinuities

2016

Topological superconductors differ from topologically trivial ones for the presence of topologically protected zero-energy modes. To date, experimental evidence of topological superconductivity in nanostructures has been mainly obtained by measuring the zero-bias conductance peak via tunneling spectroscopy. Here, we propose an alternative and complementary experimental recipe to detect topological phase transitions in these systems. We show in fact that, for a finite-sized system with broken time-reversal symmetry, discontinuities in the Josephson current-phase relation correspond to the presence of zero-energy modes and to a change in the fermion parity of the groundstate. Such discontinui…

Cavitation in 3He-4he Liquid Mixtures

2002

Phase transitions under equilibrium conditions are experimentally well determined and take place in the coexistence regime. However, phase transitions do not always occur under equilibrium conditions. As the new phase forms, the free energy of the system is lowered, but the original phase can be held in a metastable state close to the equilibrium transition point. Although they are internally stable, in each case there exists another configuration that has a lower thermodynamical potential. The metastable state is separated from the stable state by a thermodynamic barrier. Due to statistical fluctuations in density or concentration, this barrier can be overcome as the result of the formatio…

Symmetry-species conversion in CD3systems

1993

The rates for symmetry-species conversion of CD3 groups are calculated using a model in which the interaction between the quadrupolar moment of the deuterons with electric-field gradient at the site of the nucleus causes symmetry-changing transitions. Just the same phonons are considered for energy conservation as are used to describe the temperature dependence of inelastic neutron scattering experiments. For the conversion rate, a similar temperature dependence is found as has already been obtained for CH3. For temperatures around the tunnelling energy, a behaviour is predicted for CD3 that is different from the behaviour in protonated systems according to all theories known to the authors…
