Maģistra darbā “Atbildība par dzīvnieka nodarītu kaitējumu” ir izvirzīts viedoklis par piemērojamo atbildības modeli dzīvnieka nodarīta kaitējuma gadījumā. Tāpat darbā ir aplūkoti atsevišķi tiesību jautājumi, piemēram, par atbildīgo personu par dzīvnieka nodarījumu, kā arī ir analizēts dzīvnieka jēdziens, lai izvairītos no nekonsekventas dažādu terminu lietošanas. Darba rezultātā ir izvirzīti priekšlikumi, kas veicinātu vienotu izpratni par dzīvnieka nodarīta kaitējuma atbildību, definējot gan atbildīgo personu, gan piemērojamo atbildības modeli, tāpat ir piedāvāts vienota apzīmējuma definējums, kas izmantojams Civillikuma deviņpadsmitās nodaļas ceturtās apakšnodaļas ietvaros.

Bakalaura darbā “Noziedzīgu nodarījumu recidīvs” tiek aprakstīts un aplūkots daudzējādības veids - noziedzīgu nodarījumu recidīvs. Noziedzīgu nodarījumu recidīvs ir aktuāls jautājums krimināltiesībās, jo gan Latvijā, gan ārvalstīs ir bieži novērojams, ka personas pēc notiesāšanas izdara jaunu noziedzīgu nodarījumu, tā rezultātā tiek apdraudētas sabiedrības tiesības un intereses. The definition of colour polymorphism is intuitive: genetic variants express discretely-coloured phenotypes. This classification is however elusive as humans form subjective categories or ignore differences that cannot be seen by human eyes. We demonstrate an example of a ‘cryptic morph’ in a polymorphic wood tiger moth (Arctia plantaginis), a phenomenon that may be common among well-studied species. We used pedigree data from nearly 20000 individuals to infer the inheritance of hindwing colouration. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are contaminants of concern that impact every sphere of the environment. Despite several decades of research, their mechanisms of toxicity are still poorly understood. This study explores the mechanisms of cardiotoxicity of the three widespread model PAHs retene, pyrene and phenanthrene in the rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) early life stages. Newly hatched larvae were exposed to each individual compound at sublethal doses causing no significant increase in the prevalence of deformities. Predatory fish have occasionally been observed preying on birds, sometimes repeatedly, but few studies were able to unravel the overall significance of avian prey in fish diet and the predation impacts on bird populations. We used a control/impact study setup, using a Nature Reserve in northern Italy and a nearby control area, to determine: 1) the contribution of waterbirds to wels catfish diet in the Reserve, 2) the population density of wels catfish in the Reserve and control area and 3) the potential impacts of waterbird depredation by wels catfish on waterbird population trends. Long-term care of older adults is currently suffering from a shortage of trained personnel and high turnover rates. Care work is poorly paid, demanding, increasingly time-bound and both mentally and physically burdensome. In this study, we examined the individual, organisational and economic factors that predict professional care workers’ intentions to leave their current employment, using the NORDCARE survey data (2015, N = 3801) collected in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. The frequently discussed gap between conservation science and practice is manifest in the gap between spatial conservation prioritization plans and their implementation. We analyzed the research-implementation gap of one zoning case by comparing results of a spatial prioritization analysis aimed at avoiding ecological impact of peat mining in a regional zoning process with the final zoning plan.
