A Numerical Optimisation of a Stirling Engine

International audience; A zero dimensional finite-time thermodynamic, three zones model of a generic Stirling engine has been developed and experimentally validated. Taking into account time-dependant heat transfers and losses, the model calculates the evolution of gas temperature, mass and pressure in each zone.

Abstract Veterinarian and human pharmaceuticals may be intentionally added to animal feed to enhance animal production. Monitoring these substances is necessary for protecting the consumers. In this work, a screening method covering 116 human and veterinary drugs has been developed and validated in five types of animal feed at 0.02 and 0.2 mg kg−1. After a simple extraction and dilution, the samples were analysed by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography coupled to quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UHPLC-QTOF MS). PEM FC Single Cell Based on a 3-D Printed Plastic Housing and Experimental Validation with the Mathematical Model

Abstract This paper presents the design, modelling, and testing of a PEM single fuel cell based on the use of 3D printing. The design of the housings was made of SolidWorks, while MATLAB/SIMULINK were used to model performance. The fabricated cell performed satisfactorily with no leaks of gas, showing that the 3D printing method can be used in the additive manufacturing of fuel cells thus leading to significant cost savings.

BACKGROUND: In secondary data there are often unstructured free texts. The aim of this study was to validate a text mining system to extract unstructured medical data for research purposes. METHODS: From a radiological department, 1,000 out of 7,102 CT findings were randomly selected. These were manually divided into defined groups by 2 physicians. Smart Technologies for Improved Software Maintenance

Steadily increasing complexity of software systems makes them difficult to configure and use without special IT knowledge. One of the solutions is to improve software systems making them “smarter”, i.e. to supplement software systems with features of self-management, at least partially. This paper describes several software components known as smart technologies, which facilitate software use and maintenance. As to date smart technologies incorporate version updating, execution environment testing, self-testing, runtime verification and business process execution. The proposed approach has been successfully applied in several software projects.
