AGGIORNAMENTO SULLA DISTRIBUZIONE DEL SUCCIACAPRE Caprimulgidae) IN SICILIA CAPRIMULGUS EUROPAEUS (Aves

2021

Caprimulgus europaeus In recent years Update on the distribution of breeding Nightjar in Sicily. there have been numerous observations of Nightjar in areas where it had never previously been observed. In some cases the reason may be a deeper exploration, but in other cases the possible explanation is the expansion of the species. However, it is quite interesting the change in the habitat by this species. The present paper provides an update of its status based on data collected in the fifteen years following the publication of the last Sicilian Atlas of breeding birds.

Pasaules Dabas fonda (World Wildlife Fund) sociālo reklāmas kampaņu vizuālo statisko reklāmu semiotiskā un auditorijas analīze (2010-2014)

2016

The ecology of the cork-oark (Quercus suber L.) stands in NW Sicily

2017

The uneven presence of the cork oak (Quercus suber L.) within its distribution range seems to be affected not only by its climatic requirements but also by rather specific edaphic needs. In fact, most of the known populations throughout the Mediterranean area thrive on acidic soils deriving from metamorphic or volcanic rock outcrops. However, some Italian populations of this species behave as if they were independent on the chemical and physical characteristics of the substrate, e.g. growing on calcareous soils, which are considered less suitable. This is the case of some populations in central Italy (Latium) and NW Sicily (Trapani Mts. and Palermo Mts.). A multidisciplinary investigation c…

Abitare i paesaggi inattesi: DOM – e la pratica del cammino

2022

Urbanized territories have expanded invading the space and modifying the dynamics defined over the centuries of slow development, often making the city indistinguishable from the non-city. In this condition, an unforeseen form of landscape takes place and determines itself, unexpectedly interposing between the planned meshes. By appropriating spaces transitorily rejected by hyper-functionalization, wild environments nomadically occupy empty sites until a new order to come. The practice of walking to cross spaces is an experience of comprehension that allows human beings a renewed way of dwelling in the world. The article assumes that the design process over wild areas continue to occur thro…

Agronomical evaluation of Sicilian biotypes of Lavandula stoechas L. spp. stoechas and analysis of the essential oils

2015

The aim of this study was to characterize wild lavender, which was collected in three different areas of Sicily (Italy),according to agronomic and chemical evaluation. The collection sites were located in Pantelleria island, Partinico (a warm sub-area of Lauretum) and Castelbuono (a middle sub-area of Lauretum). All the populations were identified as Lavandula stoechas L. ssp. stoechas. Essential oils were extracted by hydrodistillation and analyzed by gas chromatography– flame ionization detector (GC–FID) and GC–mass spectrometry (GC–MS). GC–FID and GC–MS analyses permitted the identification of 101 components from the essential oils. We analyzed only the flowers and leaves of L. stoechas …

Study of quantitative and qualitative variations in essential oils of Sicilian oregano biotypes

2015

Essential oil (EO) was extracted using hydrodistillation from samples of Origanum vulgare subspecies hirtum (Link) Ietswaart, gathered from the wild in various parts of Sicily, Italy; GC-FID and GC-MS analyses were subsequently performed. The aim of the study was to analyze the relationship between essential oil yields and the geographical distribution of oregano wild populations based on variations in environmental factors as collection sites. Moreover, the purpose was to group Origanum vulgare subspecies hirtum biotypes according to the chemical composition of the EO. The seven principal components in the EO was thymol (24.0–54.4%), γ-terpinene (9.8–30.5%), ρ-cymene (5.2–18.7%), α-terpine…
