Strongly Red-Emissive Molecular Ruby [Cr(bpmp)2]3+ Surpasses [Ru(bpy)3]2+

2021

Gaining chemical control over the thermodynamics and kinetics of photoexcited states is paramount to an efficient and sustainable utilization of photoactive transition metal complexes in a plethora of technologies. In contrast to energies of charge transfer states described by spatially separated orbitals, the energies of spin-flip states cannot straightforwardly be predicted as Pauli repulsion and the nephelauxetic effect play key roles. Guided by multireference quantum chemical calculations, we report a novel highly luminescent spin-flip emitter with a quantum chemically predicted blue-shifted luminescence. The spin-flip emission band of the chromium complex [Cr(bpmp)2]3+ (bpmp = 2,6-bis(…

Effects of Organic and Chemical N-fertilization on Yield and Morpho-biological Features in Coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.).

2009

Although MAPs are subjected to a growing interest (from growers, transformation industries, public and private institutions), a full introduction of such species into the Mediterranean cropping systems still needs the pointing out of many aspects. An important task concerns some aspects of cropping technique, whose definition could allow these crops to optimize the yields (both from the qualitative and the quantitative point of view), also allowing the best exploitation of land resources. One of the most crucial aspects is linked to plant fertilization, above all with Nitrogen. The trial that we report the results of has been performed in 2003- 04 and 2004-05 with the aim to study the effec…

Nitrogen and sulfur co-doped carbon nanodots toward bovine hemoglobin: A fluorescence quenching mechanism investigation

2018

A deep understanding of the molecular interactions of carbon nanodots with biomacromolecules is essential for wider applications of carbon nanodots both in vitro and in vivo. Herein, nitrogen and sulfur co-doped carbon dots (N,S-CDs) with a quantum yield of 16% were synthesized by a 1-step hydrothermal method. The N,S-CDs exhibited a good dispersion, with a graphite-like structure, along with the fluorescence lifetime of approximately 7.50 ns. Findings showed that the fluorescence of the N,S-CDs was effectively quenched by bovine hemoglobin as a result of the static fluorescence quenching. The mentioned quenching mechanism was investigated by the Stern-Volmer equation, temperature-dependent…

Tradeoffs in the evolution of plant farming by ants

2020

Diverse forms of cultivation have evolved across the tree of life. Efficient farming requires that the farmer deciphers and actively promotes conditions that increase crop yield. For plant cultivation, this can include evaluating tradeoffs among light, nutrients, and protection against herbivores. It is not understood if, or how, nonhuman farmers evaluate local conditions to increase payoffs. Here, we address this question using an obligate farming mutualism between the ant Philidris nagasau and epiphytic plants in the genus Squamellaria that are cultivated for their nesting sites and floral rewards. We focused on the ants' active fertilization of their crops and their protection against he…

Studies on predictive virtual models based on finite element analysis of the behaviour of geomembranes

2017

The study shown in this paper presents the behaviour of geomembranes used at the ecological landfills. For this goal was used a method designed to elaborate the virtual models of 3D geomembrane with one ply or 2 plies disposed at 30°, 45° and 90° and based on this model there were developed a number of 20 particular cases. For each situation it was realized the nonlinear analyses for all the developed cases with different vertical pressures representing different loads for the waste layer (1m, 2m, 10m, 15m, 20m). The main results are obtained in graphical form and represent the Maximum tensions Von Mises and total displacements of the geomembrane.

Isomeric fission yield ratios for odd-mass Cd and In isotopes using the Phase-Imaging Ion-Cyclotron-Resonance technique

2018

Isomeric yield ratios for the odd-$A$ isotopes of $^{119-127}$Cd and $^{119-127}$In from 25-MeV proton-induced fission on natural uranium have been measured at the JYFLTRAP double Penning trap, by employing the Phase-Imaging Ion-Cyclotron-Resonance technique. With the significantly improved mass resolution of this novel method isomeric states separated by 140 keV from the ground state, and with half-lives of the order of 500 ms, could be resolved. This opens the door for obtaining new information on low-lying isomers, of importance for nuclear structure, fission and astrophysics. In the present work the experimental isomeric yield ratios are used for the estimation of the root-mean-square a…

Separation of fission products by the ion guide fed isotope separator, IGISOL

1987

Abstract The performance of the ion guide method in the on-line mass separation of fission products has been investigated. Activity was produced by bombarding nat. U targets with a beam of 20 MeV protons. All the mass chains from A = 95 through A = 120 have been scanned using conventional methods of nuclear spectroscopy. No chemical selectivity in the separation was observed; isotopes of highly nonvolatile elements from yttrium to palladium were produced with efficiencies equal to those for the more volatile ones. The boundary of known neutron-rich nuclides was reached throughout the mass region from A = 106 to A = 118. During the course of this preliminary study the new isotope 116 Rh was …

Neutron yield from carbon, light- and heavy-water thick targets irradiated by 40MeV deuterons

2009

Abstract Angular and energy distributions of neutrons produced by the interaction of deuterons of 40 MeV in carbon, light- and heavy-water targets, in which they are stopped, have been measured by the activation method. A discrepancy with a time-of-flight measurement for d + C has been found. The results are compared with a Monte-Carlo calculation and are discussed in the frame of building a deuteron-to-neutron converter for the SPIRAL2 radioactive ion-beam facility.

Design of large scale sensors in 180 nm CMOS process modified for radiation tolerance

2019

International audience; The last couple of years have seen the development of Depleted Monolithic Active Pixel Sensors (DMAPS) fabricated with a process modification to increase the radiation tolerance. Two large scale prototypes, Monopix with a column drain synchronous readout, and MALTA with a novel asynchronous architecture, have been fully tested and characterized both in the laboratory and in test beams. This showed that certain aspects have to be improved such as charge collection after irradiation and the output data rate. Some improvements resulting from extensive TCAD simulations were verified on a small test chip, Mini-MALTA. A detailed cluster analysis, using data from laboratory…
