Direct mass measurements of neutron-rich zirconium isotopes up toZr104

2004

Atomic masses of radioactive zirconium isotopes from {sup 96}Zr to {sup 104}Zr have been measured with a relative accuracy of {<=}5x10{sup -7} using a Penning trap coupled to the ion guide isotope separator on-line system. The obtained two-neutron separation energies show strong local correlation in relation to the shape change and shape coexistence between N=58 and 60.

Radioactivity of neutron-rich oxygen fluorine and neon isotopes

1999

The $\ensuremath{\gamma}$ radiation and neutrons emitted following the $\ensuremath{\beta}$ decays of ${}^{24}\mathrm{O},$ ${}^{25--27}\mathrm{F},$ and ${}^{28\ensuremath{-}30}\mathrm{Ne}$ have been measured. The nuclides were produced in the quasifragmentation of a 2.8 GeV ${}^{36}\mathrm{S}$ beam, separated in-flight and identified through time-of-flight and energy-loss measurements. The ions were stopped in a silicon detector telescope, which was used to detect the $\ensuremath{\beta}$ particles emitted in their subsequent radioactive decay. The coincident $\ensuremath{\gamma}$ rays were measured using four large volume germanium detectors mounted close to the implantation point and the …

Collective structure of the neutron-rich nuclei, 110Ru and 112Ru

1990

Abstract The collective structure of 110 Ru and 112 Ru has been studied at the IGISOL facility through the beta decay of 110 Tc and 112 Tc. Neutron-rich technetium isotopes were produced by the 238 U(p, f) reaction at 20 MeV bombarding energy. The new isotope 112 Tc was found to decay with a half-life of 280(30) ms. The observed energies of the 2 + and 4 + ground state band levels in 108,110,112 Ru are almost the same. However, a steady energy decrease of the proposed gamma band head is observed with increasing neutron number, suggesting importance of triaxiality in these nuclei. In fact, only in 192 Os the second 2 + state has been observed at lower excitation than in 112 Ru. The static de…

Laser spectroscopy of neutron deficient zirconium isotopes

2002

The first optical measurements of the neutron deficient isotopes, 87-89Zr, and also the two long-lived isomers, 87m,89mZr, have been performed using the new technique of collinear laser spectroscopy of cooled, bunched ion beams. Nuclear mean-square charge radii, spins, magnetic moments and quadrupole moments spanning the N = 50 shell closure are reported. The \"kink\" in the charge radii trends at the neutron shell closure is the most pronounced obsd. for any element in the region. [on SciFinder (R)]

Decays of theY97isomers to the single neutron nucleusZr97

1996

The decays of the 9/2(+) and of the three-quasiparticle high spin isomer in Y-97 have been investigated following on-line mass separation with the ion-guide technique. Spins and parities for several of the lowest-lying levels in the daughter nucleus Zr-97 are revised and configurations are proposed. In particular, the 2264 keV level is identified as the h(11/2) single-neutron level. The population of a cascade on top of the h(11/2) level provides evidence for Gamow-Teller beta decay of the high-spin Y-97 isomer. Levels and transition rates are qualitatively well reproduced by regarding Zr-97 as a single-neutron nucleus with respect to the doubly closed Zr-96 core.

Olefin polymerization and copolymerization by complexes bearing [ONNO]-Type salan ligands: Effect of ligand structure and metal type (titanium, zirco…

2014

A series of novel titanium(IV) complexes bearing tetradentate [ONNO] salan type ligands: [Ti{2,2′-(OC6H3-5-t-Bu)2-NHRNH}Cl2] (Lig1TiCl2: R = C2H4; Lig2TiCl2: R = C4H8; Lig3TiCl2: R = C6H12) and [Ti{2,2′-(OC6H2-3,5-di-t-Bu)2-NHC6H12NH}Cl2] (Lig4TiCl2) were synthesized and used in the (co)polymerization of olefins. Vanadium and zirconium complexes: [M{2,2′-(OC6H3-3,5-di-t-Bu)2-NHC6H12NH}Cl2] (Lig4VCl2: M = V; Lig4ZrCl2: M = Zr) were also synthesized for comparative investigations. All the complexes turned out active in 1-octene polymerization after activation by MAO and/or Al(i-Bu)3/[Ph3C][B(C6F5)4]. The catalytic performance of titanium complexes was strictly dependent on their structures an…

Zirconium–hafnium and rare earth element signatures discriminating the effect of atmospheric fallout from hydrothermal input in volcanic lake water

2016

The geochemical behaviour of Rare Earth Elements, Zr and Hf was investigated in the thermal waters of Nevado del Ruiz volcano system. A wide range of pH, between 1.0 and 8.8, characterizes these fluids. The acidicwaters are sulphate dominatedwith different Cl/SO4 ratios. The important role of the pH and the ionic complexes for the distribution of REE, Zr a nd Hf in the aqueous phase was evidenced. The pH rules the precipitation of authigenic Fe and Al oxyhydroxides producing changes in REE, Zr, Hf amounts and strong anomalies of Cerium. The precipitation of alunite and jarosite removes LREE from the solution, changing the REE distribution in acidic waters. Y-Ho and Zr-Hf (twin pairs) have a…

Geochemistry of Zr, Hf and REE in extreme water environments: hyperacid, hyper saline and lake waters in hydrothermal systems

This PhD thesis concerns the geochemistry of Zr, Hf and REE in extreme water environments characterized by a wide spectrum of chemical physical-parameters and compositions. The investigations were carried out in hypersaline waters covering a wide range of Eh values along Dead Sea Fault (Israel), in hyperacid waters circulating in Nevado del Ruiz volcano-hydrothermal system (Colombia) and in CO2-rich waters belonging to the Pantelleria volcano-hydrothermal system (Italy), including the alkaline lake “Specchio di Venere” formed within a calderic depression. The wide spectrum of chemical-physical conditions and various water chemical compositions interacting with different solid phases allowed…

Small-diameter titanium Grade IV and titanium-zirconium implants in edentulous mandibles: three-year results from a double-blind, randomized controll…

2015

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to compare crestal bone-level changes, soft tissue parameters and implant success and survival between small-diameter implants made of titanium/zirconium (TiZr) alloy or of Grade IV titanium (Ti) in edentulous mandibles restored with removable overdentures. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This was a randomized, controlled, double-blind, split-mouth multicenter clinical trial. Patients with edentulous mandibles received two Straumann bone-level implants (diameter 3.3 mm), one of Ti Grade IV (control) and one of TiZr (test), in the interforaminal region. Implants were loaded after 6-8 weeks and removable Locator-retained overdentures were placed within 2 weeks of l…

Small-diameter titanium grade IV and titanium-zirconium implants in edentulous mandibles: five-year results from a double-blind, randomized controlle…

2015

BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to compare the 5-year survival and success rates of 3.3 mm dental implants either made from titanium-zirconium (TiZr) alloy or from Grade IV titanium (Ti Grade IV) in mandibular implant-based removable overdentures. METHODS The core study had a follow-up period of 36 months and was designed as a randomized, controlled, double-blind, split-mouth multicenter clinical trial. Patients with edentulous mandibles received two Straumann Bone Level implants (diameter 3.3 mm, SLActive®), one of TiZr (test) and one of Ti Grade IV (control), in the interforaminal region. This follow-up study recruited patients from the core study and evaluated the plaque and sulcus …
