Scholarly publishing depends on peer reviewers

The peer-review crisis is posing a risk to the scholarly peer-reviewed journal system. Journals have to ask many potential peer reviewers to obtain a minimum acceptable number of peers accepting reviewing a manuscript. Several solutions have been suggested to overcome this shortage. From reimbursing for the job, to eliminating pre-publication reviews, one cannot predict which is more dangerous for the future of scholarly publishing. And, why not acknowledging their contribution to the final version of the article published? PubMed created two categories of contributors: authors [AU] and collaborators [IR]. Con la sentenza n. 91 del 2018, la Consulta ha avuto modo di offrire una rivisitazione "ad ampio spettro" dell'istituto della sospensione del procedimento con messa alla prova, affrontandone diversi aspetti fondamentali. La pronuncia - pur esprimendosi in termini di inammissibilità o di infondatezza delle questioni sollevate - può essere considerata un importante spartiacque nell'elaborazione ermeneutica della fattispecie, risolvendo alcuni problemi interpretativi e, al contempo, ponendone in luce di nuovi.
“Magnifying glass” for difficult radiocephalic arteriovenous fistulas

Background: Some uremic patients suffering from diabetes, atherosclerosis or simple by absent or exhausted peripheral vascular bed require bigger effort in creating arteriovenous fistula. Although it is possible to use prosthetic graft for difficult cases, the use of native vessels falls always in the respect of patient’s quality of life. A help for these cases comes from the use of a microsurgical technique for creating vascular access. Aim: The aim of this study was to deepen the current understanding of physiotherapists’ decision-making process and more specifically, to investigate their reflections on their clinical reasoning when examining low back pain patients. Method: Data were collected in interviews with six physiotherapists, were the stimulated recall method was used. Interviews were audio-recorded and transcribed and then analysed by content analysis. Physiotherapists’ experiences of direct access for clients with musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction: a qualitative study

Aims: The aim of this study was to qualitatively analyse physiotherapists’ experiences and perspectives for delivering services directly, without prescription or referral, for clients with musculoskeletal pain or dysfunction. Methods: This was a qualitative study where data were collected from questionnaires given to 34 physiotherapists, 18 of them being in direct access for 6 years and 16 for 6 months. There were 15 structured questions and 3 open-ended ones. The answers were analysed with quantitative and qualitative methods.
